Lets face it.. it's the best looking midsize out there.
Also, I liked that the towing capacity for this size of the truck is 6500 lbs

I'm getting a Tacoma since I'm a truck guy and want a reliable truck.

My big mistake was getting a new Mazda 3. Should have went for a truck for my first vehicle.

I had been considering Silverado's/Sierra's however the reliability is a crap shoot and they drink a bit more gas.

The Tacoma drives nice, is decently priced these days, and well worth the investment, I hope.

After owning a car, I realized I do need something bigger.

Live and learn, I guess.

89

My buddy had a 89 Toy, he came over one day and as he left he lit the rear tires on that truck, I had not seen that on a 4x4 ///6 before.....I had to wait a few years until I paid my Dodge off.....paid 25k for a 96 SR5 4x4 and I just checked KBB and the retail is like $9300. Not bad for a 96.

Wife has always driven Toys, she had a 88-Tercel, then Camry's-94, 96,02, and now she has an 07 Camry!!!

Want a Tundra real bad, but the Toy only has 79k miles, so I guess I'll wait!!!

I like trucks, and IMO, Tacos are the best lookin' and best priced. That, and they're pretty damn reliable (dad's got a '97 Taco with 165K miles on it - still in great condition).

Toyotas in general are awesome vehicles. Aside from my dad's truck, my mom's had two Camrys.

I hear ya on the family having Toyotas. Dads got an '07 Camry SE, Moms got an '03 Sequioa SR5, Grandma had an '06 Solara Limited but she sold it an now has an '08 Rav4 V6, and I've got my Taco.

My Sister is about to sell her '07 SE-R for a Hummer H3. Cool little SUV, but I'd rather have a FJ if I was getting an SUV.

I had an 05 f150 before my taco and there was too many problems. I loved the way the truck looked but thats about it. Bad gas mileage (about 11), too big for me, slow, bad handling, not enough space in the back seats, didnt feel solid, and it just felt cheaply made. Ever since i traded it in i have never looked back and I am positive that I will own many more tacos.

I was wanting the mid-sized Tacoma & was in the market for a truck. I read Toyota was delaying the Tacoma for another year, so I bought an 03 until the next gen Tacoma came out(hoping it would have a good resale value). The 03 was a nice truck. But the brakes weren't up to stopping, while pulling a bass boat. I had some close calls. I usually had to down shift the automatic trans to help stop(I hated doing this, it could not be good for it).

When I traded my 03 a year & a half later, they gave me $2500 more than I owed. Great resale value!

The 05 I was able to buy for $23,000 total price(sticker was $29,000), with the tonneau cover & trailer hitch added. I like the 05 much better. Brakes are better. Towing is better.

I bought the Taco because it is just damn sexy...and because of Toyota's reputation...and because all other trucks out there are inferior.

I have always owned a truck. My first toyota was a 1993 4x4 pickup I bought from a guy at work. It had 150000 miles on it when I bought and I sold it for more than I paid for it 2 1/2 yrs later when I bought a 2007 corolla. I missed that pickup, so after 10 months I sold the wifes van, gave her the corolla and bought my 2008 4x4 regular cab. It will be a long time before this leaves my family. This truck is awesome and does everything I want it to and gets good gas mileage to boot.

I've seen issues with other trucks and haven't heard the same stories about Tacos- I really like the V6, 6 Spd, and the looks.
My wife approved too.

Had a brand new '86 4x4 that I ran all through college and finally sold it when my job provided me a company car. Been stuck driving the typical Ford POS rep car until they took them away in December 2006. While my friends in the company went out and bought BMWs, Lexus and even SUVs, I headed directly to the Toyota dealer to grab the best truck on the market. The quality is unmatched and the mod options make this a true addiction.

I had a '95 4x4 Tacoma with 160,000 miles that never game me any trouble. In fact, I never even had to replace the muffler (how can that be?).

But then the frame rust bug hit, and the deal with Toyota was too good to pass up a new one ('08), as much as I wanted to keep the '95. The bottom line is what everyone has said: it is the best small(ish) truck out there. Nothing else comes close.

And yes, I like the gas mileage: I got 20-26 mpg on the '95 depending on the season and whether I was using the tailgate net, and I am getting the 24-27 on the '08 so far. Great for a 4x4, IMO.

And thanks to TW, I know more about this truck than any vehicle I've ever had. Thanks guys.

My buddy had a 89 Toyota pick up 4x4 with the 4 cylinder motor Xtra cab while I had an 89 Camaro IROC-Z. I live in the northeast and my car didn't do so well in the winter. He took me for a ride in the deep snow and I was hooked since. Traded my Camaro for a 96 Tacoma LX Xtra cab 4x4 V6 and never regretted it. Toyota bought that back and now I have a 08 TRD Sport Access cab 4x4 coming in a few days. Can't wait. I love driving in the deep snow and parking in deep snowy spots where cars fear to park.
Almost forgot, I LOVE the looks of the Tacomas
