    Hey all, I am in the market for a truck, i saw this truck on craigslist yesterday and i am very interested, was just inquiring if any one out here thought it is a decent deal (limited knowledge on trucks)

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    $4900 is a little high. It blue books at $3125 in excellent condition. That's without knowing all of the goodies. I would try to get him down to the $3000-$3500 range. Also, it is due for a timing chain change judging by the mileage.

    I had forgotten about the timing chains, my excitement comes from the mileage, up here in Alaska it is difficult to find a 2000-20004 below 100k let alone a 94 with just over that amount.

    It's not so much the chain the needs replaced. It's the guides. They are plastic and when they fail, it causes the chain to rub through to the water pump. Been there, done that, sicked major kahoonies. It's typically the right side (looking at the motor from the front) that breaks.

    hmm, true, well honestly i will give him a call today, try to set something up for friday or so, what might be some questions i should have in mind? i have to timing chain question in my head now (thanks 98taco) any others i should keep in mind?

    Just the basics. Ask about maintenance schedules and if any major problems have occurred. Test drive of course. And enjoy.

    • Transfer and tranny fluid changed?
    • Front and rear diff fluid changed?
    • A/C work?
    • Last plug change?
    • Coolant change?
    • Water pump?
    • Brakes good?

    i think it may be a little over priced as said above, but everything in alaska sells for more. so that could be a deal for you up there ya know?

    Honestly I have been lurking around Craigslist for a while and for Alaska the state that truck is in does make it a bit of a deal, and plus its an early 90s Toyota, those years have always held fun vehicles, such as the previa ;)
