The 3.slow V6 was actually the only engine offered when the T100 was introduced. The 2.7 four cylinder came a year later.

    That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.
I knew the SR5 ran the 22RE until the Tacoma replaced it in '95, but I wasn't sure if the '93 and '94 100's ran the 3.0 or if the 2.7 came out early.

The T100 always seemed like it was between the size of a 1st gen Tacoma and a Tundra.

Bigger than a 1st gen Tacoma, but never really seemed quite the size of the Tundy either.

and when the 2nd gen tacoma hit the market it looked way better than the same year tundra...and the motor IMHO was way better than thier V-8. in 2005 i was young, and i remember seeing on in the parking lot of the giant i worked at. I said to myself, one day i want to own one of those. and 6 years later, i finnally got one. for decent price 2

That was my thought as well, but the two trucks are much more "brothers" than they are "cousins".
Width on the RC/AC are the same... the Doublecab was wider, but the Doublecab was more Sequoia than Tundra.

    Agreed.

When I bought the Taco, I basically had a pre-approval for up to $15k OTD on a dealer-purchase 2006 or newer.

I had two serious options... the '08 Taco RC base or an '09 Tundra RC base, both with roughly 50k on them.
My other options were a 4x4 Ranger, a Ram, and a few others that I really didn't want to look at.

As much as I wanted the larger Tundra, I just can't get over the look... and NO WAY did I want it in an RC base.
The Taco, I could deal with an RC base and do the basic mods... but the Tundra is just too "imposing" to be an RC... I would not buy a Tundra except in an access cab.

Ill agree with that. Next time i see the 2004 tundra at work, ill park next to it and snap a photo:spy:....Hopefully he sees me. Whenever i park next to ppl at my work( who dont have an taco or an fj ) they always look at me with jelly. you know how many times i get told, man i wish i wouldve bought a toyota.....then they ask the year. I say 2005. they say wow, it looks brand new.......

    There we go...

I added both the 1st and 2nd gen Taco to the image for a complete comparison.

I didn't see the point in including the SR5/HiLux since it was comparable to the 1st gen Taco, to the point that there was one rolling around Montclair wearing the "wrong" sheetmetal.

the t-100 was toyotas first attempt at a somewhat full sized truck (actually more mid sized) they lasted a little while too (93-98) and was offered with 3 different motors (3.0 v6, 2.7 i4, and the 3.4 v6)

In my opinion it was the best truck toyota ever made! Perfect size, great motor (96-98 with the 3,4) could get the 5 speed and 4x4, swap out for manual hubs from a pickup. It was a thing of beauty, if they offered it new today I'd be the first one in line to trade in my tacoma for it.

    It's a 10-15 year old truck.
You won't see a lot for sale (or on the road).
How many '93-'98 Hi-Lux or Tacomas do you see?

Actually I have only seen two in recent memory a guy at work has one and I saw one on the road about a month ago. It still kind iof surprised me somewhat that ebay only has two.

Oh ya... I see T100s every day, but not nearly as many as I see Tacomas and Tundras.
The old pre-Tacoma trucks are getting more scarce, but I still see more of them than I do T100s.

"Relative" rarity. The pre-2000 Tacomas and SR5s are "common" because Toyota sold an assload of them every time gas prices jumped $0.50 and people dumped their Detroit iron but still needed a truck.
