Hello Everyone! Long time Toyota owner, first time post. So I just bought a 2002 Tacoma double cab 4x4 with 120000 miles and a new frame. What should I do as far as maintenance. Obviously the upgrades are limitless and I will be picking your brains as to what to do about style and function. How dependable are these trucks and what do I need to be aware of. I'll miss my 1990 Toyota but it was time to say goodbye!

My brother's 01 double cac 4x4 has 230k and it's still running like a champ. we still go out every meet and give it hell as well. so as long as you keep the maintenance up and the timing belt changed (every 90-100k miles) you should be good. We have had no major problems out of his truck. It's getting the wheel bearings and rear axel seals replaced this week. Again 230k and they are factory, well maybe not wheel bearings. One more thing we replaced the cat due to mud being caked up on it and it throwing a CEL and bogging down because it cooked itself.

Thanks for the information! Hopefully this truck will be as problem free as my 1990 was. To think that I could get an extra 200,000 miles out of this truck makes it even more satisfying. That's if I can keep it away from my teenage son.
    Thanks again guys!

Teenage son or not it will go the extra 200k. My younger brother has had his since 16. It was his first truck. He is on the forum as well if you wanna go look at pictures of it. He is Gatortaco92. Oh. He has been rough on the truck as well. Go over to the Alabama thread and take a look at the video that I posted.
EDIT: He still has the truck with 230k on the clock
