what motor to swap into 93 truck

    3" lift with adjustable shocks and AAL, TPS disabled, anytime locker mod, MOOG greasable ball joints and adjustment pins, URD M3 s/c, Pioneer nav headunit, xplod 1000w amp, 10" infinity sub, tinted windows, lightly tinted tails, color matched front grill with blacked out emblem. Do battle scars count as mods?? =D
    Ok, I was given a 93 Toyota ext cab 4x4 with a blown motor. Anyone have any input for a good swappable motor? I'm thinking a good old 350 sbc motor would be easiest, but anyone have any input, or links to some builds or aftermarket parts, or have any input on what motor swaps in the easiest? I have a 79 mudding truck with a half ton Chevy frame under it and a 350 in it, which I love but I was thinking to build something a little more streetable. Any opinions?

    LS1, 2JZ, 5VZ, 3UR just a few I would do if looking for power. 5VZ is the most civil and I would think that it would also be the easiest.

    agreed. 5vz seems to be the way to go. Plenty of threads around detailing the swap. Can't remember the name of the company that did the wiring harnesses for them, I think there now defunct but it's reletively easy from what I have read if you can read schematics/wiring diagrams.

    the 350 swap with an advanced adapter from the turbo 350 trans was pretty simple on the older mini trucks. Not sure of the simplicity on newer tacomas.

    I figure if I'm going to go to the trouble to swap in a different motor I may as well put in a motor that its going to give the truck some power... Fuel injection would be a major plus tho

    And a 280+ HP 4.7 won't give it some power?

    I was more than happy with it in my '03 Tundra... much heavier than the '94.
    Found myself bouncing off of the 105mph limiter more than once while passing RVs on the highway... That engine had some serious "shit and git" when the trans downshifted and it got into it's power band.

    There's a guy on TTORA that put a Lexus V8 in his Tacoma. Dude has a lot of money into that truck though like 2 crawler boxes, SAS, locked, caged, everything you could dream of in a rock crawler.

    4.7 would be cool, but I haven't heard of any one attempting that, and the major downfall to that is Toyota trucks rarely get parted here, tundras especially might be tough to come accross. I would like to swap in whatever motor will swap the easiest, but its also got to be a motor I can get my hands on cheaply and easily, thus where the 350 comes into play I believe... But I will keep my eye out for some Toyota v6 or v8 motors that might be doable.

    With the 3.4 do I need a 3.4 tranny also? As well as axles? Links on info to this swap would be great... If anyone knows of a 4.7 that's been swapped in that would be worth checking out also.
