Hey TW, It's been a rough coupe of weeks. So I bought an 07 SR5 with a 2.7 and rwd in March.. I got it for 16,500, and put 5k down.. Needless to say I have driven $800 beaters my whole life with no accidents, but I bought a truck I researched and fell in love with and wrecked it..

To explain the accident a little I was coming back from up north, taking a left hand turn on 4 4 lane highway, there was a speeding car in the slow lane blind to me by the guy in the fast lane who was going the speed limit, so I thought I had a window. I got hit behind the rear tire and spun around and hit a car coming out of the parking lot I was going into behind the back driver side wheel. So the cab is mint, the frame and rear axle are bent up.. All in all I am trying to dispute liability with the speeder, and someone who buys my taco off the auction lot is going to have a KILLER salvage.

I fell in love with my truck when I had it, and I want another taco, I dont care it its a 2.7, or a v6, but I want 4wd.. I am worried that if I can't prove the guy who hit me was speeding my insurance will go up to the point that I will not be able to get another $16k truck.. I have been trolling local taco sales and I am finding a lot of 100k+ mile 96-04 tacos in my price range. (I am only getting $2600 back after I pay the loan off, so I am going to have a smaller down payment.)

I guess my question is, how many miles is too many on an older v6 taco? What are some good years to go with that I would be able to get for around 13k? Any other advice you guys can give me? Any one wanna chew my ass for killing a taco? Any input is greatly appreciated as I need to make another buy asap.

So to recap.. I'll have about 3k for a down payment, trying to finance no more then 10k, and I am in Minnesota. Not worried about buying something with 100,000+ miles, as long as I dont have to start throwing parts at it for a few months. Hoping for a v6 4wd because that horse power would have avoided my last accident.

    Thanks.

sorry to hear about that man. i have a 97 4x4 v6 and payed 7000 for it with 130000. with a price limit of 13000 you should have many options. and with the 3.4, imo its the second best toyota engine ever made (behind the 22re) but i see people with 300k-400k on original motor with regular maintenance of coarse

im not sure what your looking for and what capabilities you need your truck to do, but keep in mind that 98 and newer are mostly going to be TRD (rear locker) wich makes the price go up considerably.

    http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...154015240.html - seems pretty good

    http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/an...166979026.html - prerunner and I4 (said you wanted 4x4 and v6)

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...166418483.html - seems not to bad and good price, but high miles

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cs...151394915.html - not to bad but "some rust" would make me nervous

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ra...059965802.html - seems over priced and not v6

sorry that im picky about cars, but being a mechanic theres no way to get around it lol

so I e-mailed this person, they said the price is not a typo they want 3,500 shipped for a 03 v6, 4wd clean title, no lien, service records included taco. The truck is sexy as all hell, but I just got a gut feeling this is a scam.. The lady said shes in a tough time and she just needs the money asap.. The catch, she it supposedly in Montana, and wants to complete the transaction through Amazon.. She said that Amazon would hold the money until I approve of the truck apon delivery... I just dont know, that is the deal of a life time, and I would be willing to snag it, but I cant afford to tie up my only 3gs on a scam and wait til a disputed case gets me my money.. Any one maybe in Montana that would be willing to look this up and let me know if its for real, without buying it outright and skipping home with a dirt cheap taco?

Or telling me if they think its worth a chance?

Otherwise im still on the hunt.

More than likely a scam. It's always too good to be true, ask her why hasn't she sold it locally on CL? It would be gone in a heartbeat..

and for the record a I want a v, but a 4 banger wouldnt be a deal breaker if it w the right truck otherwise.

Also Pre 98 pre-runners didnt have a locking dif? I thought they all did that's why I would have gone with the pre runner.

yeah thats what I was thinking, I mean 3500 bucks, you could put a sticker in the window and that would FLY out the door.. I figured it was too good to be true, once she requested my name and address so she can let Amazon know about the transaction, I stopped e-mailing her..... It is a purtty taco tho.. Oh well..

^^ so I know no one has said much on here since my last 5 posts, lol, but That white 95 taco looks like its going to be a sure thing. I asked the guy if he would take 4,000 cash next week after I got the check in, and my bank will loan me the extra thousand dollars. If all goes well I'll be rollin in a gen one taco with a v6, 4wd, AC, Cruise. and I will own it out right when I sign the title.
