I have a mechanic working on my 1999 Tacoma to repair the rear axle seals. Apparently my truck is set up for ABS brakes even though it's not a feature on the vehicle. He's also been told by 4 different machine shops that we HAVE to go to Toyota to get the new bearings/rings pressed on because this particular axle requires a special tool. Anyone else ever heard of this? The machine shops won't touch it and absolutely insist that a tech at Toyota does the work.
