Its not that great off road. To long. Truck want bought for trails, as My Folks have a couple of quads, and a jeep for those events. The Dodge was purchased to tow. It has a 110 gal. transfer tank, 5th wheel, and a goose neck. When pulling a 14,000lb. trailer, the extra length is nice. PArking it is horrible. We can only park it in the back lots, and have found its more easy to back it in.

I was told that this was a "Special Pacific Northwest edition". A friend works at a Toyota dealer here in So cal. He said that they make special editions for different areas periodically. They recently made a Texas edition

Such 'special editions' are occasionally assembled as region-specific offerings, usually at the 'port' (intermediate distribution center) or at the dealership. Some, however, are made up by local dealer groups or even individual dealers.

If this DC Long Bed was marketed as a 'special edition', it would certainly have been as one of these latter (dealer group / dealer) setups. There's no way that modified frame came out of NUMMI.

Toyota did have some third party customization arrangements back in the late 1970's and 1980's, where you could order custom modifications at the point of sale and have the third party do the mods before you took possession. Such arrangements included a proto-4Runner modification (bed turned into an enclosed SUV-style cabin extension) and at least two different versions of the Custom Cab (crew cab mod - which included an extended frame).

That looks odd! Maybe a prototype from Toyota that escaped the junk yard?

nope toyota accually offered this as a 5,000 upgrade
they took a stock truck and cut it down the middle and put the extra 3 or so feet in it which made them accually kinda roomy
but personally imma agree with Tacoma Jake on this they are fugly
