Can anyone really say if these actually work? I used to have one on my '04 PreRunner and didn't notice any difference. All comments appreciated!

bug deflectors are usually best discribed as leading edge protectors... they protect the sheet metal that's located right under them.

That's what I bought it for. I can get dead bugs off of the windshield better than I can get dents and scratches off of the front of the hood.

Thats been my experience. They deflect bugs to the windshield.

I had a 91 Toyota truck that took a rock or two and it does dent. My Ranger has no dents and the deflecter is still there. I don't know what to do with the new Prerunner???-Rich

Very nice Prerunner Rich! I think 2nd gen ones look better without one. I had one on my 2004 Prerunner which made it look cool, but I don't think I'll put one on my new 07. I always thought they would deflect bugs from the windshield, and thats really what I got one for, but didn't seem to matter.
