Bought my 84 back from the buddy I sold it to a few years ago. It had been sitting for a while but fired right up after reconnecting the fuel pump wiring. :D

    Nice!

I'm getting to the point where I want to repaint as well. I don't want to rip it apart and I don't want to pay someone else to do it . . .

I could just hit the outside where it needs it but it would forever bother me that I have a seem/ didn't do it right the first time. We'll see what happens. Just waiting for the rock chips in the hood to get rusty enough to motivate me haha

Replaced a leaking rubber fuel hose coming off the gas tank on my '87 runner, the same one that started leaking on the '85 a year ago. It's no fun finding that away from home.

Changed all my vacuum hose's to silicone with a kit from LC. Made the idle a little smoother. Also changed the nylon shifter bushing and the shifter seat. It made a very big difference and would highly recommend it. My shifter seat was completely gone, just little chunks of rubber. The nylon bushing was also worn away to just a sliver of nylon.

I just did a very baaaaaad thing...I'm planning on adjusting my torsion bars down a bit for a little more up travel and I was searching on yotatech for any last bits of advice...
I came across many many many threads with pictures of trucks with 2-3 inch lifts and 33x10.5x15 tires on stock rims. SO MUCH ! Then I saw someone had budbuilt skids on their pickup, so I researched that a bit. I didn't know that they made skids for earlier trucks, so now I'm drooling for that, too.
    :annoyed:

I started collecting parts for the GM 3800 SC swap in my 84. Got a 700R4 with the funky 60 degree bell housing to go behind the motor. Gotta figure out what I'm doing for a t-case now. I'm probably gonna run a Dana 300 but may have to run some sort of doubler to get a front drive shaft in it. Shooting for the fewest amount of adapters to have to buy/build. Gonna be mean once its all done.

Adjusted torsion bars this weekend. Loosened them a little to level the front and make the front a bit more flexible. So far everything's great!

Painted my rear auxiliary light mount to prevent it from rusting tonight. Hopefully the paint works well...it was kinda old...

I'm itching to go offroading but every day this week has a chance of thunderstorms for most of southern california... :(

I would if the trails that I want to do didn't involve driving in a desert wash in a flash flood warning zone...
Plus, one time I went out to this desert area near the border and on the San Diego/Imperial County line with a 30% chance of rain and it poured during the drive out there and it snowed on us when we got there. It would be just my luck to get out to the desert and be in a wash when a flash flood struck.
Next week should be good, but it'll be hot as hell.

Tried to find this mysterious misfire at idle with no luck :( Can't find whatever is causing it.

Pulled my Clutch pedal bracket out, it was cracked, welded it up and reinforced it. Truck shifts nice and smooth once again.

How much does everyone's truck vibrate with the AC on? Mines a base model and i had the AC installed and it shakes the whole cab like crazy when I'm at idle. Not when accelerating though.

Mine shakes the windows a quarter inch side to side if they're cracked down a bit haha it's not good . . . and I don't really know where to start any diagnosis.

hmmm....that does not sound good. I'm assuming you checked idling without the a/c on, right? I guess check the compressor? Maybe it's not mounted tightly or something. Do you have the 1993 pickup fsm files?

No files. Haven't started digging yet either. Busy weekend and I'm two block from school and work so I ride my bike while the weathers nice. And yup, only vibrates when the AC is on. It stops the second I turn it off. I hope to have time to look into it this week. For as much as it costs and as little as you learn, school sure eats up too much time in my opinion . . .

    Here's the total FSM: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/
    Here's a/c specifically: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/airconditioning.html

Could also check the belts, as I think the a/c is run by a belt.
Doesn't sound crucial, though, so I don't think it's something to rush if you can't because of school, etc.
But imo, I like school, so I think it's fun even if I don't learn a whole lot. I definitely learned more in my study abroad class than in any other class I've taken on-campus. I highly recommend that if you can and if you haven't already.

Where is your idle at when the compressor is engaged? If it's dropping to much that could be source of your vibrations.
