x2. if i needed a 1/2 ton i would get a tundra. but if i did a lot of heavy towing or hauling id get a cummins.

Just in the past few months I've gone from a Taco to a Tundra, and now I'm in a '03 4runner.

If you don't like the 5.7L gas motor in the Tundra for towing then follow this simple plan:

1. Buy Dodge w/ Cummins
2. Buy Tundra
3. Yank Cummins out of Dodge
4. Drop Cummins into Tundra
5. Sell Toyo motor on fleabay
6. Use Tundra to drag Dodge carcass to junk yard

hmm that sounds cool.

but tundra is good for towing. but if i had to tow 8k pounds id get a cummins. tundra could do it fine but MPG will probably be under 10. The cummins wont drop as much as a gas engine when towing. Also a 2500 can tow 18k+ pounds, and the 3500 can tow like 30k.

I've only owned Toyota and Subaru. My next car will most likely be one of the two. I've owned a Tacoma, WRX, and now a 4Runner. My girlfriend has owned two Tacoma's as well.

Depends on what they do between now and then.
If the 2014/2-15 looks like 2014 4Runner, it'll be a tough sell for me.

But even right now, I'd be more inclined to move to an FJ Cruiser.

I have(and did) think about an FJ. But I like having the bed to much and use it to much to really get an FJ. I would have to get a smaller trailer if i had an FJ. But i dont like towing ALL the time. I do tow some as it is.

Next on the list:

Car: 2008 Subaru Forester 2.5 X Premium Manual (Dark Grey Metallic or Steel Grey)

Bike: 2012 Suzuki V Strom 650 ABS (Metallic Fox Orange)

A Pickup, Car and two bikes should hold me over long enough

I'm sure you're aware of the lawsuit announced this week over "unrealistic" power and mileage claims of the eco-boost.

I miss having a truck, but my Jeep will stay as a trail rig. Question is 2nd gen for a DD or an actual car..

This is why the Forester appeals to me. By no means will I be "off roading" with it, but it'll get me through much more than a car and I can then stop worrying about the Pickup being DD worthy and gear it towards the heavier stuff.
