Diesel / Electric Hybrid Tacoma for 2016!

With all of the hype around various fuel saving technologies, I wonder if Toyota will be among the first to go hybrid with a truck. Seems to me that the Tacoma is a perfect platform. Toyota already has tons of hybrid experience under its belt and their diesel engines are top-notch. Put the two together and...BAM!

Ground

Breaking

Shit.

Not sure i would want to take that through deep water. Damaging the electric drive while offroading would be a costly expense. You could easily get 25+ mpg with a diesel in a Taco. That and 400lbs of torque (if using a 4BT motor).

I would rather them offer the D4D as an option for the Tacoma. Nothing wrong with an efficient diesel engine!

Costly to say the least! My bosses wife's Prius was in a minor flood (just enough to get the floor inside wet). She got back put the key in and it told her to contact the dealership. A few days later they were told it was "totaled".

Diesel / Electric Hybrid Tacoma for 2016!

I think we can all agree a Tacoma has slightly better ground clearance than a Prius.

Electric motors for cars are sealed. If they weren't, they wouldnt be able to drive in rain.

OK

So the opposition to this future marvel powerplant for the Tacoma is that a vehicle that has 1" of ground clearance got caught in a flood ?
