I also have the 83 Toyota pickup, and im having the same issues. I've replaced both slave and master cylinders recently, and replaced my clutch and even had the fly wheel machined not even 10,000 miles ago. Ive always had problem shifting into reverse, and just today I wasn't able to shift into any gear. I checked the slave and master cylinders, the pushrod, and drained replaced the hydraulic fluid. Still is happening

knock on wood mine been doing pretty good. if it wont go in gear just pump the clutch while the tranny is in netural till it goes it gear. if it wont go in reverse try to go in a foward gear. (i always go in 3rd) then try to go in reverse

An issue that have not seen posted yet happened on my wife's 90. The clutch pedal is mounted to a super thin plate. Once a brace breaks this allows all the force applied to the plate and it rips. Progressively it gets to the point the clutch will not disengage. Look up against the firewall while you push the clutch pedal in with your hand and watch for the plate to flex. Just joined and see this is an old post but was no follow up as far as a cure. Hope this helps someone else doing a search.
