Well I'm not active on any other forums anymore really. So figured I may as well make a build thread here. I picked up an 83 a couple months back for 2000. Always been my favorite body style and I'm tired of beating my 4runner. Wanted something to wheel a little harder, rubicon fordyce etc...

Got it, figured out some of its quirks like leaky windshield, some sweet bed rust, and that empty on the gauge is absolutely empty... old 22r runs great for having a broken odometer at 230k but a 22re is in the works.

Picked up some parts in the first month or two and started the planning.

    Trail gear classic 4in
    ifs pump
    chevy 63s with LROR kit
Marlin dual case adapter (not yet installed)
    5.29s
spartan locker for back (wish I went detroit)
Still need to buy sliders and possibly a cage

How it sat when I bought it:20140720_200754_683b554910bbd7768fd95126754a175d0498d387.jpg

Got a free camper from a member on here who's a friend of mine IMG_20141009_112446_34ecfc5788e61dba1387bc5f908663b8ece05978.jpg

    Took it to a buddy's to store/rip apart IMG_20141130_222039_27db4cb73d21dd145a570dd2b2ea606b314d8bef.jpg

Picked up some 37 in mtr kevlars used with 3k miles and 10 year americas tire warranty for 1100.20150121_165102_b51f2450b2b6c962c99dbe1767c62c92ac705220.jpg

And then forgot to take pictures of every other step so her she is now.

Still have some odds and ends to tie up, added wheel spacers because I ordered wheels with too little of offset

Looks great so far! I aim to start working on my '79 tomorrow! So far I need to jerk the fuel tank and fuel lines and see about finding a used carb somewhere. It runs, but I can't get it to pick up fuel and I discovered the old lines are full of holes and the carburetor has about 20 vacuum leaks in it. Trying not to spend a fortune on it yet, the truck sat outside for 10 years without being driven so who knows how long I could get it running and driving before something catastrophic goes wrong with the engine or something along those lines. But yeah, I love the looks of these old rigs, damn fine looking machines! Here's mine as she sits now.

Never heard of the sport package, what's the difference with it? Not even sure what mine is, doesn't say SR5 or anything on it, just Toyota 4WD.

I think the sr5 has a stock Tach, which mine doesn't :( but when I go 22re I'll just get a new cluster or digital gauges.

    Also bad ass truck guys!
