I'm thinking about getting the wife a 2000 4 Runner with 3.4L @ 68,000 in excellent condition. Is the 3.4L a good motor? Anything I need to look for in particular?

The 3.4l motor is bullet proof man. They do however have timming belts, so that will be have to be changed at around 80-100k i believe.

Broken and scratched tailgate, cracked rear tail light lens, coffee stain in driver seat.
Homer J is right, timing belts are a service requirement in that mileage period, otherwise a very good engine.

My `01 w/ 140k runs like a top. Did have some issues with a PO420 code(cat converter), then a TPS Code, but cleaned the throttle body and MAf and the lights been off for about 1000k now. Never has used any oil between 5k mile oil changes summer mpg =17 city 19 highway (4-runner prob. less)Yes, I think its a good motor.
