truck hesitating after fuel pump installation

So i just installed a new fuel pump into my truck as per the other one quit on me. and now when i drive, there is alot of hesitation when driving shortly after starting, but as i drive more it slowly goes away.. but there is still some there with there is lots of strain on the engine.
the day before the pump went i noticed a small amount of hesitation.. nothing major..

help
I got a new fuel filter last year as well as plugs wires and cap, air filter is relatively clean
