Painting a canopy

Hey everyone. I am interested in buying a canopy. I could either go the route of buying a new one and getting a color match and everything or go with a used one but with a used one you don't always get the color you want. Has anyone painted a canopy before? Did you use aerosol cans?

So you mean a camper shell?

Just pick up a cheap one and have it painted to color match. Save some money.

Yea I want to pick up a used one but I want to know if it would be worth it to pick up some paint and paint it myself.

I thought about getting a used one and painting it to match my truck...but I'd want it to really match the truck and look NICE so I'd have a professional do it.

I saw some good ones on Craigslist but so far none that are "cheap" enough for me to consider.

I bought a used SnugTop on Craigslist. When I bought it the canopy was black. On the way home I dropped it off at Maaco and had them color match. This is the second time I have bought a used canopy for a truck and done this. Extemely happy with my choice and saved some serious bucks over new. Good luck. Ken
You can check out my pics if you want to see the truck with canopy

The had the canopy about 2 days total. Savings over a brand new canopy if you can find one makes it worth the effort IMO.
