Fuel Pump Problem?

I think my fuel pump is gone, what should i check to be sure before i dig into it?

 

what checks have you done to it that makes u think it's the fuel pump?? Does it crank, but won't start??? Have you checked for spark??? Fuel pressure???..

well it was going good, today i had a little hesitation early in the morning, after work i went to start my truck, it started and ran for about 6 seconds then started hesitating then died.. started again lasted 4 seconds.. and again slowly til it wouldnt run at all.

it cranks fine it just isnt firing.

 

You have a carb.
Are you getting fuel when you pump the accelerator?
Look in the carb. when you take the A/C off.

 

no carb in the 3.0 V6

 

sounds like a fuel filter change is due

 

Guess I figured a '90 truck would have a carb.
Oh well.... shot my idea down.
Thanks for the info. All my Toyota pickups had carbs until my '01.
(I forgot my '89 Land Cruiser has FI.)

Sometimes carbs are easy for trouble-shooting and sometimes not.

 

there is a new fuel filter..
ya, no carb.

when i took the bed off the get to the fuel pump. the bloody gas tank doesnt have a spot of rust on it, but wouldnt you know that the fuel line going to the tank is rusted to f. i was knocking a bit of the rust off so it didnt fall into the tank when i took the fuel pump housing out, while doing this the fuel line actually started spraying fuel everywhere. so now its covered in cat litter to soak up the gas so i can fix this hole.. fun times.

anyways.. its already all apart with the part ordered. i'll let you know if it actually was the fuel pump not.
