Toyota is recalling 2.3 million cars in the US to correct sticking accelerator pedals, just the latest in a string of recalls the firm has had to announce.
Company spokesman Brian Lyons said the move was due to the vehicles' pedal mechanism becoming worn and, in some cases, getting stuck.
It is not yet known if the recall will affect Toyota cars in other countries.
Back in October, Toyota recalled 4.2 million cars in the US due to pedals getting lodged under floor mats.

The models affected by the latest recall include:
    2009-2010 RAV4
    2009-2010 Corolla
    2009-2010 Matrix
    2005-2010 Avalon
    2007-2010 Camry
    2010 Highlander
    2007-2010 Tundra
    2008-2010 Sequioia.

I still don’t get how the pedals would get lodged under the mats. I've had the mats shoved up so far that it blocks the breaks but never over it. I guess this is why its not part of the recall.

Do you really want the dealer cutting up your pedals?

If its all for getting new stuff, alright, but I find it odd they pretty much recall all the car lines but like 3.. Just weird.

Tacoma is in the original recall. This is a voluntary recall for more vehicles in their line up.

Do a search on the forum - tons & tons of threads about this already.

Toyota is supposed to be redesigning the pedals. Toyota owners (tacomas included) have already been informed to remove their floor mats.

I think the mat issue is a cover story, there might also be a low profile, CPU flash upgrade going on as well. Is it really possible to have the same issue, mats, causing an a dangerous safety issue in so many different types of vehicles? Tacomas may have already recieved the upgrade since similar issues a few years back. :notsure:
