My boss has a 91 yota that he wants to sell. Sparing you the details I am able to pick it up for 3000 or possibly less. It has 170000 miles on it. It is in excellent shape, meaning very minimal rust, no dents or dings, frame is not rusted and looks freshly painted. Its manual transmission 4x4.

I want to know if this seems like a good deal or if it has too many miles. I know of the legendary reliability of the 22RE but not as much about the 3.0. I dont know anything about the past. He bought it last winter.

Its also got brand new tires on it and new cv shafts.

Thanks for any help or incite.:)

I had an 88 Yota with the 3.0L, I sold it because the motor was too noisy for me, it ticked. Long story short it is still running today, HOWEVER, the 88 body style RUSTS BAD. I still talk to the owner the frame has been fixed by the fuel tank, which now leaks, and the rockers and cab corners are gone. I painted the truck too before I put it back on the road. I know a few people that have the 91 body style that still have their trucks on the road. I think Toyota did a better job preventing rust in the later years. I wouldn't worry about the motor it's a solid motor... noisy but solid. Check the truck for rust if it's good, make an offer, 3K is too high for me though maybe 2K.
