VERY poor C/Service

I know everyone on here loves Toy Tec, but I'm DONE with them 1st and last transaction today !!

Just got my OME 885's in and shocks, I was having some vibration issues so I called to ask about the carrier bearing drop hoping it would solve it...so I say ok, I'll take them. I get the shipping quote and its like 11.00 for 1 lb holy shit !!.... so I said I;ll take it.... anyway

I need to resolve this issue and i hope this is the answer..after all I already have a diff drop in there ( bought it BRAND new from a member on here still in the package still have the package)

As I'm walking out to the truck I see the passenger side diff drop GONE and the diff hanging down. The Bolt had broke off and the spacer and everything was gone.

I called them and asked them if they would replace it.. after 15 min they said they would sell me1/2 of a diff drop kit for 15.00. I needed it so I had to take it. I guess they dont stand by there products. OBVIOUSLY it was a defective bolt but yet I had to pay for a new one, AND have to buy a washer that goes under it from Toyota ( 25.00) for that jewel.

This is my .02 so spend you $$ where you want but .....a little C/S goes a long way...too bad you wont get it from them.

Lets not throw the book at them yet. Did you do the instal? Did a shop? Were the bolts torqued correctly, or just twisted until they couldnt turn anymore?

I installed them and went step by step based on the directions I found on here,

torqued to 50 lb's

Look I understand the world is an imperfect place and some things break but all I asked was a replacement to one side that broke...It's not like I was trying to get a whole kit for free, just stand by your product.

If I'd know it was shit metal in the bolt I would have gone to Tractor Supply & bought a 6" grade 8 bolt , washers and nylock nut for 1.30 ( like I did last night)

Look I'm in the service and supply business too, I send customers parts for machines if something breaks and just absorb the real 'cost' to keep the customer coming back to me and word of mouth goes a LONG way on the interenet.

If they had just said , hey, no problem we'll get a bolt and the spacer shipped out for the one damaged side

( cause as you know you need 2 to make it function and one was still in there) then I would have been writing PRAISE for the service and support AFTER the sale.
They might not think that taking care of the customer AFTER the sale means much but.....eventually they will see it does..

Ok....The bolts get torqued to 100 ft-lbs, so they were not torqed enough at 50#. Have you heard back from them yet?

According to the instruction sheet ToyTec suplies it state clearly ' 50-70 lb's torque is adaquet' for the suppied bolts.

No I have not heard from them...why would they bother to contact me...they got my CC # already I dont imagine I will....

I went to TSC, got some bolts and fender washers and just bolted it up securely ( no diff drop)

It runs fin, verry little vibration ...which I will gladly live with if I dont have to worry bout my front diff falling off on the Mass Pike.

If you were able to rethread a new bolt in it sounds like the old one unthreaded itself and fell out...

I remember talking to you yesterday and trying to help you troubleshoot the issue. Both Ben and myself spent some time helping you try to resolve this. ToyTec Lifts apologizes that you feel this way about our customer service. However, please understand that as a company we ALWAYS recommend a professional installation to avoid these types of issues. According to our conversation I had with you, I did not ever have any indication that the bolt had broken. The bolt was missing. These are grade 8 bolts which is the exact spec that Toyota uses for this application and we have never seen one break in any of our diff drop kits. Also it should be noted that our instructions specify that all hardware should be torqued to factory specs and if such information is unavailable, torque spec is between 50-70 ft/lbs. We shipped the parts you needed ahead of other orders to ensure that you got it as soon as possible and we added these parts to your order for no additional shipping.

Let me know if you have any other questions and feel free to call me if you want to discuss this further. Our number is 303-255-4959

i agree

I think they are a good company but at the end they just try to sell you things without listening and they dont always have the answer. Its all a speculation to them, I am not happy with my experience as well.

Just for the record, I don't.

I don't have anything against them, but I don't love them either.

Man, I absolutely loved Toytec's customer service the one time I needed them. I emailed pics and everything and they sat on the computer looking at the pics with me and were able to walk me through my fix. Toytec gets a five star rating as far as I'm concerned.
