885 vs 885x

I am looking at ordering the OME lift with the Dakar rear Springs. I heard that the 885x springs will give me closer to a three inch lift than the 885 springs when paired with the OME front shocks. Is this correct, is there a difference between the two springs, and which do you guys ship with that kit?

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

The 885x are, from what I have tried to dig out of OME, the newer springs that are pre stressed, and give between 2.5 and 3" lift. They will give the same lift on the 5100's or the OME shocks.

PackerfanXD has OME 885s with Billy 5100s set at 1" and it gives the truck a nice stance!

Thanks for the imput, but the original question was which springs does Toytec send with their OME system?

Just as I thought, I just wanted to make sure, the X is the new spring material that is suppose to not sag as easily. The lift amount is pretty much the same and the x spring is the only spring we carry at this point.

That is the same thing that Solus told me. I am in the same boat as you are. I want a shock that has longer down travel, but I have not be able to find one yet.

you won't find them... otherwise you need to get a extended travel coilover...like ICON

I think you can find a longer travel shock, I've seen quite a few on the bilstein site. I don't know how it'll work with the OME or Eibach spring though.

ARB/OME Tacoma-specific spec sheet 2010

I recently found this on the ARB site, perhaps it will help you...
They claim you should use the OME Nitrochargers with the 885.

Quite a few people use the 5100's with the OME shocks without issue. I would agree to use 9000's with the OME spring but there are other options.

There was a big debate thread on this issue and you CAN use 5100's with OME springs. The issue is manufacturer recommendation. OME obviously recommends you use their strut with their coil and Bilstein is the same with Toytec or Eibach coils. They do work interchangably though and several members have mixed and matched.

Using billies at 0 with 885's is no problem

Billies at more than 0 is where it starts to get weird

Billies should not be used with 886's
