My wife and I just returned from a 7 day Caribbean cruise yesterday (Princess). We packed 2 half gallons of Bourbon in A&W Rootbeer 2 liters in our checked bags, they were still in the bags when they arrived in the state room. In addition I bought rum in the islands and poured it into a aluminum water bottle while on shore and did not have any problem bringing it back onto the ship. So drinks were no problem. The weather was good only one day while in Roaton about 85 degrees all the other days it was raining and what I would call cold, it was 60-65. People were still snorkeling but I could not handle it. Hopefully it will be warmer for you, good luck!

Did the locals on Roaton come out like cockroaches when they opened the gate ?

I went to Roaton 2 years ago and just couldn't believe the way the locals damn near attack you when you get off the ship.

We rented a car at the port, as we were leaving they were very thick outside the gate. In the shanty towns they were very thick, could not swing a dead cat without hitting half a dozen kids peddling thier bracelets. When we got down to the west end there were not as many locals rushing at us, but there were alot of "dealers" selling Blow, Horse, weed and hookers (thieir words not mine)

Selling Horse?!?!?! like... the animal? just take a horse back on the boat with you??

Hmmm... I'll find some way to hide the booze then, better safe then have it wasted by having it taken away..

Also we're stopping at the islands, St. Martins and St. Kit, I think thats what they are called, my gf did all the bookings.

What stops are you going to? I have been on 9 crusies so far

In the bahamas my favorite places are, St. Maarten (Dutch side is fun and beer is cheap and you can walk around with it, French side has beautiful women normally), Grand Cayman, St. Thomas, and St Lucia.

cruises are fun because you get to meet a lot of new people from many different places. At dinner you normally will be seated with more people and its a good time to meet new people. Also there is always something going on and something to do. You can either relax the day away or be out an about doing something from the time you get up until you go to bed. As the others said food is free on the ship but drinks are not. Drinks do add up so keep an eye on that. if you go to the guest services they can tell you your balance anytime if you ask them, But its something you have to expect when you are on vacation. Another thing is you WILL get sun burned so take sun screen and protect your skin. I normally don't have to wear any here in Arizona but down there I got fried one of the days in 3 hours for not wearing any. It is because the sun is more intense by the equator.

Just have fun and make the best of it. Once you go on one you will get hooked. lol

St. Marteen is one of the best places to shop for jewelry and electronics in the Caribbean. If you get a chance, take a tour of the complete island (both the French and Dutch side).

those are both really cool spots. I have traveled almost all of the Caribbean. After March I will have 3-4 major countries down there to hit and I will have it all complete. Get on the cruise's website and you can see all the different excursions you can do at each country.

OH YEAH... definitely get one of the all you can drink cards (soda). You will definitely want it.
