Do it! Enjoy the drive, make sure you're passport ready! Visit the kenai penninsula in late July and enjoy catching salmon on some of the best rivers around. Take a halibut charter trip, visit the snow, and enjoy the 70 degree weather on the rivers. Ive been going there for years every summer, this year I'm even working up there all summer, deffinitley one of the most beautiful places around. I'll send a pic to live and post it back here in a sec.

Be warned though: once you go up, you will always want to go back year after year.

Agree, go fo it... take some camping stuff with you, and camp at some sites along the way.

Put in the pictures. Honestly it is the friendliest most beautiful place around. And once you start catching fish... you'll be hooked.

You will love it. There are tons of things to see up here. I am driving out of Alaska in a little less than 2 months from now. If you don't mind the extra miles you could also make it up to the Arctic Circle. Went up there last year. Definitely make your way up to Denali National Park.

Definitely go! I took 5 friends in my DC in the summer of 2009 on a 2 week long camping road trip. Only reason I havent been back there since is because naturally I wanna use my vacation time on places I havent been to yet first. Next time I'll go, I'll be riding my motorcycle.

Make sure you account for gas prices. It is 3.46 up here right now and that is in town. Some places outside of the bigger cities the gas can go up 30-40 cents. When I made the trip to the arctic circle. the gas was around 5 something.

1500 should be fine if each of your buddies also pitches in like 500 for whatever.

Yea if you haven't been here yet, a road trip is the best way to see it! The drive through interior alaska is beautiful in the summer. This place is awesome!
