Its not that bad in that zone tacoark..... its a turistic spot..... i know they are telling you guys not to visit, but that kind of stuff doesnt happen everywhere in Mexico.... Cancun is awesome, Cabo San Lucas is too..... besides, 1 USD is about 14 pesos, so its a good time to come....

Did you get to Hanimadhoo when you were there or just stay in Male? I was there for 6 weeks or so in 2006.

Oh, just saw this. What cruise line? The cruise line does make a difference.

The Gunacaste region in Costa Rica is much nicer than Cancun. It also a lot cleaner, safer and the surf is better. You can fly into Liberia and it is a 45 minute drive to the beach.

We go to Jamaica every other year and absolutely love it. We stay at Couples brand resorts. There are four of them in Jamaica, two in Ocho Rios and two in Negril. All of them are nice, all inclusive including all water sports (even scuba), all the Red Stripe and Jamaican Rum you can drink (along with anything else) and the food is to die for. Truly gormet. Here is a link to their website www.couples.com. They have a message board that you can ask any question you want to those that have been there. Here are some pics of Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios, which is our favorite.

We have been to Mexico several times, but are done going there. We go to Jamaica everyother year because the other year we travel inside the US.

I've sailed on Holland before, it's very nice. Also Celebrity once. Good too. More adults less kids on those two.

I'm pretty sure that the drug wars and kidnappings and what not are more concentrated on the Western coast of Mexico and along the US Border, and nowhere near the Yucatan peninsula. My favorite spot down there is Tulum... Nice beaches, small resorts with cabanas on the beach, and great food.

PDC is nice. Take the ferry over to Cozumel on Sunday evening for the fiesta on the square. It's a must do. :)

We stayed on Ihuru, it is literarily a blip on the radar, if you google earth it the marker is just shy of the island.
It is about an hour's boat ride North West of Male, we spent most of our time diving.
A once in a lifetime oppertunity to go there, I hope to take my son there someday.

i dont remember. i know it was a "free" vacation my parents won yrs ago we went on to the bahamas and it was horrible. there was construction goin on so i didnt have a good time at all. but most people do enjoy theirs and a travel agent did say that the ones that u win do suck and not to hold that against any others thru agencies and whatnot. so, maybe one day i will go on a cruise but not right now

thanks for the link, we will definetly check it out. and thanks for the pics, i'll show my bf and see if he wants to consider jamaica :D

havent looked into puerto rico, had friends that have been there and loved it.

payin for my part... not his :p

thats what i keep hearin about the safer areas bein more touristy places. i think we have decided to still go to mexico. just need to figure out which area in mexico we wanna go to now. we did consider hawaii bc its about the same price as mexico, but it seems like most of the hotels/resorts in hawaii are lower than 4 stars. and they dont have any activity packages either that i could see
