can you get rid of the seat belt chime?

Can you do this yourself on a '13? I had heard you cant on a tacoma and would assume they would be the same. My friend just got one and was asking me about it. If you can do it yourself, how? If not, is there another option other than the dealership?

do this, or just buy another buckle and put it in. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...eatbelt-chime/

seems like after reading the link above it can cause a lot of problems.

I told my friend to check with the dealership, but the way I understand it, if he has to diconnect the battery it will be back to on. I didnt know if the tundra was the same as the tacoma, in that only the dealer could do it. If it is, I thought I had read that there was a cable that you could buy and hook up and change a few settings such as the seat belt chime. Anybody know about the cable I am talking about?

Because they wanna feel like they're making a real point that you're not being safe without taking into consideration that there are a lot of reasons to do this aside from not wearing your seat belt while driving. Anyone who's ever driven at slow speeds on the beach, campground, large property, etc. or has had heavier items on their passenger seat understands.

When I had my tundra I bought the cable kit with software that runs on XP learning about it on Tundratalk. There is a huge thread over there.
Hooked it up & changed my auto lock, key fob one click to open all doors, disabled the seatbelt chime for driver & passenger.
It also let you do your own tpms codes bunch of other stuff.
The chime in the tundra is different than the newer tacomas.
It starts ringing immediately which is a pain if say you are hooking up a trailer etc.
My 13 tacoma doesn't do this when attaching my trailer
FWIW Before the cable kit, I cut out a template out of plastic & used that in place of the belt.

I used to own a 2007 Tundra and bought that cable. $20 shipped and it's yours. You can change all sorts of settings with it. You will need a laptop with Windows XP to run the software though.

Check out the thread on Tundratalk that Simon's Mom was talking about for more details.

It sure can be.

It's a 1/4 of a mile from my front door to my mailbox. Gravel, mud, snow in between depending on the season.

So good news is that a dealer will turn it off, but sometimes you may have to go about it very tactfully.. I was going for a test drive with a tech for an unrelated issue, stopped by the coffee shop and paid for his drink.. Then on the way back, I started talking about how annoying the chime was, and without even asking, he said "don't worry man, while I am working on it, I'll go ahead and turn it off for you"Woohoo!! no more beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeeeppppp beep beep!

Absolutely. Put it on. Most accidents happen within 6 miles from home.

And I'm saying flat land can still produce an accident.

Maybe ask the police if seatbelts are still required on flat roads? Just throwing some facts out there. Silly TW can't take it.
