Took my dads Tundra to the dealership to get an oil change and send it in for recall notice we got in the mail last week concerning the window switches. They told me it would take over an hour so I decided to get something to eat. Not long after I got my food, I received a phone call from the dealership, they informed me that the water pump was leaking and that there was coolant stain on the block.
After I got done eating I walked backed. I asked to see the stain, sure enough pinkish coolant was on the block, I told them it was stranger, that a 2008 5.7 Tundra would have a leaking water pump at 24K. The service writer told me I still have a warranty on the Tundra, and that would replacing it would be no charge.
I gotta ask has everyone else had a leaking water pump in their Tundra? And if so was your mileage?
I had a 2000 Toyota Tundra with a 4.7 and beat the holy hell out of it, and at 140k I didn't have a problem with the water pump, even though it is request owners change it at 90k.
Here's the link to my old Tundra build.
