    Been tossing the idea around of trading up for a tundra. I'd like to have a crew max. Here's the thing the 4.6 is more in my price range then the 5.7. Can anyone give me pros an cons between the two. My Tacoma has enough power for what I do with it. I tow a 24' pontoon boat close to around 4000 pounds loaded and haul a waverunner. So the power things not an issue. I've always had full sized truck this is my first mid sized thinking of going back.

    I've never had the 4.6 but I love my 5.7 tons of power decent mileage. Can you even get a crew max with the 4.6?

    I thought the 5.7 was a pretty cheap option over the 4.6.

    I made the switch back in May. No regrets so far.

    I traded a 2009 Tacoma TRD Off-Road for a 2012 Tundra TRD Off-Road with the 4.6L. I didn't like that the truck was always hunting for gears when driving in the hills of SW Virginia. I traded the 2012 for a 2013 Tundra Limited with the 5.7L. The 5.7 feels much better.
    Above poster is correct: You can only get the crewmax with the 5.7.

    No you can get a crew max with a 4.6 too I've found several on the lots there a decent bit cheaper. It's pretty hilly around her so I prob should just hold out an get a 5.7 maybe ill drop to the smaller cab.

    Some Toyota dealerships call the double cab a crew cab. According to Toyota.com you can only get the CREWMAX with a 5.7L. The crew cab (double cab) is available with 4.6.

    Unless you have big people you need to haul around constantly I'd stick with the double cab. Still has regular opening doors and enough room for real people to sit back there. It's still relatively roomy for not being a full crew cab. Plus I prefer the 6.5' bed.

    X2, but I would still recommend the 5.7L over the 4.6L.

    Yep. I never remotely considered the 4.6 myself. No mpg advantage and its pretty cheap to upgrade to the 5.7.

    Not to be nosey but what is a good price on a double cab with the 5.7 not real sure on was package either a sr5 or an offroad.

    If looking at a 2012 yes they make the crewmax with the 4.6 in the base model. If you step up to the limited or the platinum only offered with the 5.7. I believe on the 13's they don't offer the 4.6 on the crewmax at all. Personally if I were to get the crewmax, due to its size,I would go with the 5.7.

    I was looking on koons website that what started this madness. I really like my Tacoma an dont really need anything bigger I kinda wouldn't mind it tho.
