Again, depends. You're used to an engine powerful enough for your truck on its own, clearly.

Uphill on the highway, the truck was struggling up hills in fifth, could hold speed in fourth, and really needed third to accelerate in any meaningful capacity. So the before was hit the pedal, dumping fuel to the engine and having it do next to nothing (esp with cruise control) or downshift and up the RPMs to get some sort of power. Either way, this is not exactly efficient.

Now I should actually get power in exchange for each oz of gas. While the supercharger certainly eats more fuel, if it can actually turn that into kinetic energy effectively instead of just wasting it like I was, I may still see benefit.

Speaking from experience here and not speculation, trust me on this one. Once the lil boost needle goes past 0 you can watch the gas needle go the other direction (and going uphill, boost goes up even if you don't want it to, hence my comment about Tahoe earlier). Maintaining speed uphill (even in 5th) means boosting higher.

Either way, not to shit on anyone's thread or hopes, welcome to the boosted club!!! You'll be happy regardless of the MPGs going up or down.

Yep, point is moot anyway, I'll see what happens with the mileage but it doesn't matter... The truck couldn't get out of its own way, it needed this.

I'd love to have this kit! I traded an 07 Audi A4 (Turbo 2.0) in on my Tacoma and I really miss boost! My truck is so basic it would make a heck of a sleeper with this kit! My only single concern is how the stock 5-speed would hold up to this type of power. I guess sticking with stock size tires and gears would help the chances of it having a healthy life!

Well I haven't gotten MPG yet, but I did get the truck. Oh. my. god. I highly recommend doing this, guys, especially if you are a heavy 4x4. It's a whole new truck... It can actually get out of its own way, and its even fairly fast!

I'll see if I can't politely ask the GF to record a video in-cab tomorrow, as an initial one.

I'm upgrading to Icons and getting my regular tires (32" duratracs) back on in the next week, and I'll do more video then.

Wow, I went from being "bogged down below 2800 or so" to "easily cruising at 50mph in fourth @ 2000rpm, no problems". This is great!

How's the start-up, idle, uphill capability? Good choice on the Icon's

    Awesome, awesome, and awesome.

You get put back in your seat a bit if you floor it in first from a stop, for sure.

If by idle you mean cruising / coasting power, it's infinitely better. You can upshift sooner and rev lower, and there's actually power at or south of 2,000 rpm. Obviously not as much as _north_ of 2,000 rpm! But still wayyyy better cruising than stock, you don't have to downshift nearly as much.

Uphill is so. much. better. I can't reiterate how much better the blower makes this truck. I don't have to be embarrassed when I'm driving somebody and hunt around for gears because my 4-popper 4,000lb beast of a truck can barely hold speed. It's got power in each gear, for sure. You can rev lower or downshift and haul ass! It's great!

Just to add: it IS still a truck though. Much, much faster but in a 4x4 at least, i wouldn't expect to blow the doors off a corvette.

Great feedback man. Exactly what I was looking for. I hope no one on here is expecting a speed machine. However, my end goal with having the blower is for off road capability in the AZ/So Cal sand. It gets up fine now, but it's still my daily, and still sucks ass up hill w/ 4.10's. for vids

Np. You're in the same boat I was in, then. I actually did OK with this guy offroad, since I'm usually going slower / I can use 4-lo as a crutch (no desert here though). I'd imagine it'd do great for what you want though, huge intercooler and all.

That's awesome!! I downshift all the time and people ask if the truck was a manual. LOL This will be great. Anyone know if ordering is ready?

A couple of things to remember.

Always use the highest grade fuel in your area.

Do not use boost when the fuel level drops below 1/4 tank.

When you are ready for the ICONs let me know. I would be happy to get you a great deal on them to go with your supercharger.

Already ordered the icons, unfortunately. Just out of curiosity, why not boost when the fuel is below 1/4 tank?

Last thing you want is fuel starvation on a boosted vehicle. Drop low in fuel and turn a corner and you risk the fuel moving over to one side. Now imagine you're at 5k RPM and 8 PSI....and no fuel.

    Boom....

Interesting... I was speculating that it was because maybe the sludge and crap at the bottom of a tank lowers the octane.
