From your description it seems you have two problems, alignment and clearance, which may be a result of the same cause. From the pictures it doesn't look like there is much of an alignment problem, and from my experience if the supercharger is slightly off by 1 mm or 2 mm, it will not hurt because it is quite far away from the engine pulleys and such minor misalignment will not cause any harm.

Yeah, the clearance issue is directly caused by the alignment issue. I agree, the slight out of alignment is fine for the belt. What i dont like is the contact, of course, and that the alignment causes the belt to hang off the idlers. Thats a stress point that will lead to failure. With that said, im going to try gadgets idea, and screw around with a few of my own this weekend and report back.

I've been able to obtain near perfect alignment with the belt and idlers.
Some seem to have the same issue, some not. Perhaps it has something to do with newer than 09 trucks, im not really sure. Gadget said he's seen different castings on some engines that may cause this issue. But anyways, here's what i did to fix it.

I measured the spacers behind the idlers (0.125).

I found some 0.125 washer/spacers in my hardware bin, and installed them behind the supercharger bracket along with the long spacers URD provided. This brought the supercharger pulley in line with the factory pulleys.

I was able to mount the idlers provided with the kit, without the provided spacer washers(in the original holes) and now they were in alignment with the supercharger pulley and factory pulleys. And still cleared the bracket mount bolt. (close but clears)

I then took some material off the top of the lower cap head allens that mount the supercharger. This offered plenty of belt clearance. I intend to change the modified bolts to something with a shorter head.

There is belt clearance all around the bracket as well.

Using an digital angle finder, the belt and pulleys are all in alignment with each other. No belt contact and no belt stress.

I'm glad you solved it. I've had to do a lot of this alignment stuff when I first bought the Alpine 2TR supercharger. Did not align properly, so taking some material off the bracket spacers, putting some washers behind the idlers, until things came together. It was much worse than your situation. That bolt head is REALLY close to the idler pulley. But I think you're good.

    Nice work @dcvt16
Now do you think you would see benefits from swapping on a V6 exhaust with the larger 2.5" piping diameter? You have a lot more air going into your engine so I figure opening the exit a bit could help?

I believe the 4cly and 6cyl exhausts are the same diameter coming in at just under 2.5" I'm building a cat delete that has 2 resignators in it and it's 2.5 and just a bit bigger than the factory piping.
The truck has a LCE header and im working on an airbox that will use the largest cone filter i can fit and a velocity stack for air entering the box, and inside the filter. I want to keep the exhaust quiet as possible.

I'm happy to have sorted it out. It is very close. I think it will be fine too, but i am considering finding a different bolt.
I've heard some things about that alpine kit.. Are you still running it?

They are not the same. 2.7 engine needs more back pressure hence the smaller 2.25 exhaust tubing

Yes I have two versions of it. The second gen one I installed recently on a Prado 2.7, which uses water to air intercooling and a cast aluminum intake manifold. It was a successful setup, but I doubt it works as well as the URD unit. I had to modify the bracket mounts, add washers behind the idler pulleys, until I got the alignment right.

Here's the build thread of the 2.7 Prado: http://www.xr-underground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56946

I'll put up a pic of me measuring the exhaust. Its just shy of 2.5". I know the first gen 4cyl was 2.25. But, second gen used the same size exhaust for both engines.

Who has installed this kit on the auto 2.7? There was mention by a forum member that it didn't play well with the auto, the shift point would hit hard and he ended up taking of the the SC and selling it. I contacted URD about this and they said they haven't had any issues with the auto.

Interesting. I heard it worked better on the auto, no boost drop between shifts. I can say with a manual transmission, boost drop is fairly significant between shifts.
