17x8 Konig CounterSteer Type X

They already seemed disappointed that I didn't go through them to get the wheels. They didn't believe that the wheels are exclusive to one supplier. But I'm in the process of getting some paint to match.

 

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope they didn't intentionally ding your wheels because of that. Your truck still looks great to me in the photos that you posted.

 

I think they just got in a hurry. But other than that never had a problem from them. And thanks when I get the time this weekend will post better picture for everyone to show the colors better and hopefully the mud flaps I ordered should be here to. I think since I put the wheels on I have washed the truck every other day.

 

Cool, we can't wait to see your truck. Don't forget to wax the wheels periodically as well (the wheels are clear coated and benefit from periodic waxing just like the other painted surfaces of your truck). There are some good soaps and waxes out there for matte finishes. PM or e-mail me if you want me to give you some suggestions.

Good question, thank you. At this time, we feel that the Anthracite Light Gunmetal is close enough to a silver that we don't plan to offer silver as separate option.

We ALWAYS listen to customer demands, and if there is enough demand we are definitely open to adding silver as option. Custom powder coating one set at a time is always an option with us too.

 

So, here's a buck two eighty three worth of my two cents...
Overdue lift not in the equation.
Truck is Silverstreak Mica w/subtle accents, and don't care much for dark wheels.
Been back and forth between the CSX 17x8 and Sixshooter 17x8
Though the 4.1 BS is a little more (technically less) than I think I want, I like the wheel.
The Sixshooter's 4.5 BS is more to my liking, though the wheel not as much as the CSX's look.
I think the CSX in Anthracite Light Gunmetal would look to Goldish/Bronzish on a Silver Truck, for me anyway.
They Look Awesome on some color Trucks
It might be light enough and look good if it were just Light Gunmetal,
I like the Sixshooter's Graphite Gunmetal, but is probably a little darker than I'd be happy with in the end.
Seems I've looked for pics of both those color combos, in your threads and Facebook, but don't think I saw any.
If you have a link to some, I'd like to see 'em.
Anyway, as I'm not in a rush, I've been waiting to see if you turned up with some lighter color wheels,
and a silver, aluminum, polished, brushed, etc. Factory Finish is something I'd be interested in too, or even a light grayish.
Have considered contacting you about a unfinished set, and having them cleared myself.
But there's probably drawbacks to that route, that I'm blind to.
Not interested in the powder coating option, though have considered the Plasti-dip Aluminum Finish on either of the above wheels
So, throw in another vote for a silver wheel or at least a light gunmetal / light metallic gray without a gold/bronze tint.
And not to be misunderstood, subtle, not a highly polished or chrome wheel.
I know, it's a truck, not a sports car .
So, thanks for listenin' to my pocket full of two cents.
Great Wheels, I Check in on your threads frequently and suspect I'll end up with as set, silver or not.

I'm researching wheels for later this year and can use a little clarification. The -10mm (.4") offset with a 4.10" should be equal to the six shooter 4.55" backspacing with 0 offset, correct or not?

I like the looks of the six shooters slightly more. Plus the graphite gunmetal color in gloss. Do the type X come in that color? Price difference if its special?

Can I buy 5 wheels?

And assuming you're referring to both wheels being 17" x 8"

Excellent feedback, thank you very much! I'd like to immediately clarify that to the extent of my vision (and this may be subjective based on individual perception) there is no bronze/gold-ish hue to the anthracite light gunmetal color. I believe that in certain photos (and this is often the case with digital photos + monitor variances) due to lighting, photo editing software, monitor calibration, the type of camera/lens, or a number of other variables it might seem that in certain photos there is a hue to the anthracite light gunmetal color. If you've seen the wheels in person and they seem to have a gold-ish bronze hue I would say that would be a much better conclusion than photos on a computer screen.

With that said, anthracite light gunmetal is darker than a factory silver colored wheel or a machined aka brushed aluminum wheel. We can definitely offer either a plain silver metallic or a machined/brushed aluminum finish from Konig as a factory finish. We just have to meet factory minimum ordering requirements, so it would be nice to have a few customers lined up in advance so that we can order the minimum from Konig (not necessarily all sets pre-sold, but 5 or 6 customers would be very helpful in showing us that there is enough interest to get it going). Particularly due to the fact that we feel that anthracite light gunmetal is already so similar to silver that we don't want to be redundant in offering both colors.

There was enough demand for a 17x8" Konig Six Shooter in a machined aluminum finish, so we ordered them from Konig, met the factory minimum, and the wheels should be here by the end of next month.

The same is true for the 16x8" Konig Countersteer Offroad, which should be available by August in both plain silver and in an anthracite light gunmetal.

I can't tell you how much we do appreciate your feedback and feedback from everyone else on this forum. Feedback such as this helps us to continue to come out with wheels that satisfy everyone's desires.

Thanks for your interest! To answer your questions:

1) Just as Cape Codder so skillfully illustrated below, the -10mm offset on the 8" wide Countersteer Type X equates to approximately 4.1" of backspacing, and the 0mm offset on the 8" wide Six Shooter equates to approximately 4.5" of backspacing.

8" wheel width + 1" for rim flange = 9" overall width

Divide overall width by 2 to get the center : 9" / 2 = 4.5"

Add or subtract offset to the center of the wheel to get backspacing:

Konig Countersteer Type X 17x8" -10mm offset

8" + 1" = 9"

(-10mm / 25.4mm per inch = -.39")

4.5" -.39" = 4.1" backspacing

Konig Six Shooter 17x8" 0mm offset

8" + 1" = 9"

(0mm / 25.4mm per inch = 0")

4.5" - 0" = 4.5" back spacing

The lower the offset the more the wheel will "stick out" relative to the width of the wheel. So if both wheels are 8", the wheel with a -10mm offset will sit outward 10mm (.39") more than the wheel with the 0mm offset. Width definitely needs to be taken into account when determining this, as two wheels with the same offset but different widths will fit differently. The offset doesn't necessarily mean that the wheel will or won't stick out of the fender either. It's a measurement relative to the how much the of the wheel "sticks out" past the hub, and the hub is rarely if ever even with the edge of the fender on any vehicle.

2) At this time it seems like you like the Six Shooters in graphite gunmetal the best, which is great because that is a standard color for the Six Shooter. This might be your best bet.

3) If you decide that you actually like the Konig Countersteer Type X in 17" better, but you'd like to order them in graphite gunmetal (which is not a color that is currently offered for the 17" Countersteer Type X)your options for a 17" Konig Countersteer Type X are:

• Order a set in anthracite light gunmetal, matte bronze or matte black (standard, in-stock factory finishes).
• Have a set custom powder coated through our powder coater or from a powder coater of your choice any color you'd like (including a dark graphite gunmetal color) at an additional cost. Typically powder coating starts at $195 for a set of four wheels, and goes up from there depending on the color (usually not exceeding $350 / set unless it's a really special, multi-color finish).
• FN Wheels can start gauging interest in the color to be offered as a factory finish at no additional cost. If there is enough customer demand we will order the wheels from Konig on our own. If there is weak or limited demand we may ask for special orders from our customers first, and then we will fill in the rest to meet Konig's factory minimum ordering requirements for a new color.

4) Definitely you can order five (5) or any multiple of any of the wheels that we carry. If we have less than that quantity on hand we will let you know before we take your order.

The Konig Countersteer Type X 17x8" / -10mm offset / 4.1" backspacing won't give you any issues at all with a 4" Maxtrac spindle lift.
