Beach tires?

So i live in wilmington nc. we have this great beach that i go to, Carolina beach. drive on camp out and fires the whole nine yards. i have an 05 D-Cab long bed. i want to get a 3 inch lift and tires. i have the stock street tires i got from the dealer, but they suck. What would be a god tire for sand? also i go out on the beach 20% and 80% street so i dont need crazy nobbie tires. what do you guys think?

get some a/t tires

 

new to all of this, what does A/T stand for?

Realy i was suprised how well my dunflops did in the sand.

 

Bridgestone Revos...good for road/off-road.

 

I'll let you know how the Duratrac's do, I'll be north of you on Carova beach, outter banks in two weeks. If they do half as good as they did in this years blizzard......good times ahead!

 

Tread type is of minimal significance in sand, air pressure is far more important. Modern traction control can lessen the need to air down, but it's still a good idea.

but go procomp extreme a/t or Toyo open country m/t (mud terrain)

 

they do ok, but there are a lot of spots where that sand gets a little deep and very soft. push you have people with crazy lifted trucks and big i mean really big tires that dig big ruts. i will have to take a picture but there is a guy that is there every day i am and it is a huge H1 with something like 40 inch plus tires. and the lift on it is sick. the coils have to be an inch think. but i will take pics next time.

 

one of the favorite things the old school baja guy like is finding 265/75 16s that are absolutely bald. you can usually get them for free at a local tire shop out of the junk tire pile...

went for a ride with a dude in a lifted f150 with bald ass tires with 10psi and he never spun or sunk in. I was amazed. sand is weird stuff to drive on

just looked at the pro comp a/t like them a lot. do you know of any site that does a wheel and tire package? looking for a 32 or 33inch

I have the pro comp at's. (not the extreme). Im not super impressed with them. Ive never been on sand tho.

 

my stock dunflops down to 15psi work good in sand. just let air out ;P
