How do 285/75/16 mount on the stock 16x7 rims?

Hi,

Just got my new 2010 Taco and I'm taking in all of my options for a lift and some tires. I'm liking the 3" lift, and I was hoping to be able to slap on some 285/75/16 BFG ATs on the standard 16" rims my truck came with. I have a DC 4x4, its not a TRD but it has the upgrade wheels (with cheapie dunlop 245/75/16s). The idea is to save money and not have to buy new rims until I have the money to really get the ones I want.

So, I was wondering if anybody else has mounted this size of tire on these rims and if they have had any issues. A few tires shops around here say they do it all day long and a few say they wont even try it.

I wouldn't even try putting 285 without a lift

I will be putting a 3" lift. I'm just wondering what kind of rubbing issues or over-all fitment issues I may have with 285's on stock 16x7 wheels....

Doesn't make too much sens to me to replace UCA. Not sure what I'd be gaining there...

 

Ya but still with the factory wheels and 33's you will be rubbing. You might need to go so far as to do a cab mount chop! And ya it makes sense to replace your UCA's because you might not get alignment to spec, at 3" of lift its a hit or miss and you might need them to correct if your not a lucky one.

I plan on doing the same thing.
I have heard that most tires that size can fit 7" to 8" rim... and the stock rims are that...
I am going with it, and it should be ok.

 

Oh if your asking if the tires will fit the rim then the answer is yes. I thought you were also asking about wheel well fitment, sorry

Actually I'm asking about both. First, does the 285 fit on the standard 16x7? Based on the answers, yes.

Now the next question, which seems you were touching base on, is what fitment issues will I have by using the stock rims? What if I get aftermarkets that are -4.5 ?
