Biggest tire w/o rubbing???

Yo, I have a 06 tacoma TRD OR DC in indigo ink, and I am going to be needing tires in the next probably 5k miles and want to figure out what to get. I dont have money for a lift, although i may be able to squeeze some bilstiens for the front out of my wifey, but want to get bigger tires. Soooo, what is the biggest tire you've had on your DC with MINOR trimming?

The largest tire you can run without rubbing or putting on a lift is 265/75-R16 which is a 32 inch tire. im pretty sure you can run a 33" tire no problems but it all depends what tire you go with.

A 265 is the widest you can run with a lift and stock tires with no rubbing. If you want to run 285's with stock wheels, you will need spacers or different UCA's.

Exactly.

Also, with 285s you will have to no matter what wheel you have.

Ah.....not true. Im have 285/60/18's ( 32x 11.50 ) and a 3" lift with no rubbing. I only have minimal rubbing (on the mud flap) when I stuff a tire in a turn.

A 265/75/16 is a 32" tall tire, and 10.4" wide. Stock is 245/75/16 (30" tall, 9.5" wide), TRD and upgraded tires are 265/70/16 (31" Tall, 10.4" wide) or 265/65/17.

I have a 04 stock 4x4. I just put on 285/75/16 on stock, and should have done the research. Had to cut the plastic trim of running board and pound some body part. Still rubbs at full turn. What is best solution? Do I need to buy new rims, 5100, or level spacer would help. I'm lost.

You should at least get the adjustable 5100's for 2.5" of lift, and you may need come wheel spacers to avoid rubbing you Upper Control Arms.

Just went on toytec. Is it best to buy the 5100 by itself with stock spring, or coil over.

With the stock wheel and a 285 width tire, you will rub the UCA when turning.

I don't know how different the wheel wells are between the '06's and the '08's but I am runing 285/70/r17's minus the front mud flaps on stock wheels and my tires only rub a little when I am turning to the max.

It rubbs when making a u turn. What a stupid mistake, at this time, the vehice is at the shop for a 6" Fabtec lift and new wheels. Thanks guys

Ok, the dimensions calculate out to what I posted. All tire manufactures tires are a little different in size, whick is why sizes are rounded up, i.e. 31.5 is considered a "32"" tire, etc.........

Is it better to replace the coil w/ 884/885 or change the shock to 5100's?? PreRunner DC w/ TSB rear. I am NOT doing anything with the rear right now because the rake looks like I won't need to.

Depends on what your wanting from your suspension. Is one better than the other? Well, thats to be determined by the end user. For me, New springs and UCA's were what I needed for the wheeling I do. For others, they want coilovers, and many are quite happy with spacers of some sort. What is it you are trying to achive with the lift? Looks? Off road capability?

Looks without giving up my current ride. I am also thinking the amount of rake I have is not a bad thing considering how much towing I do. I think I will lift the front first (making it level with the rear TSB susp.) and then figure out what to do with the back.
