MAX tire size with 3in lift

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows the max tire size i can put on my double cab 2007 with a 3in toytec lift 2WD. Would prefer zero to minimal rubbing.

 

265/75/16 no rubbing

285/75/16 with some fender wheel trimming and without proper wheel a cab mount chop

 

295s with lots of trimming
305s with lots of trimming and cab mount chop

 

Could you explain "proper wheel a cab mount chop" ? and how far out would the 285 stick out?

 

315 with so much trimming and cab chop to the max and then still additional rubbing

 

proper wheel. cab mount chop. 2 seperate things. cab mount chop is what your cab mounts to on the frame. proper wheels meaning backspacing, offset and such

 

Ok I found the cab mount chop thread, what would be the proper back spacing?

 

and does anyone have pictures of the trimming?

 

whatever you think. I think with anything smaller than 285 maybe 295/75/16 4.5 BS should be ok but if you go any wider than that then 4" or less and definetly a wider than 8" rim.

^thats for a 1st gen but shows you what a PITA it will be to fit huge tires

 

so for a 285/75/16 what would be the right wheel size and BS?

I just got a 3" Toytec lift, and have 285/70/17 BFG AT's. My wheels have a backspacing of 4.75" and a 0 mm offset. I had some minimal trimming done on the plastic inside the fender and my front mud flaps. There is hardly any rubbing. I think it was good fit.

Ah soon, very soon. Hopefully post some tonight or tomorrow. If you read around the threads, the magic number for backspacing is 4-4.5", so I was worried about the wheels I chose, but everything workout better than I could imagine. Surprised on how sharp I can still turn without it rubbing!

 

You didn't even have to do a cab mount chop?

 

Me and a few other members have 315/75/16's on 3" of lift. A lot of chopping was involved to make them fit though.

 

Prolly 6 on 5.5, 16x8, 4.5" backspacing, 0 to -5 offset.

Which I take to mean that you rub if you turn all the way lock to lock?
