I'm looking to put some new wheels and tires on my 2010 Trd sport and I've searched endless threads on TW. I just need your opinion on whether this will work.

I want to put 17x8.5 ATX thugs on some 265/70/17 Goodyear Duratracs. However, I have one reservation. The 8.5" wheel width is the max that will fit on this tire, so do you think that the sidewall will bulge out or look weird when mounted? The duratrac tire already has a small section width to begin with. I don't want the tire to look stuffed because I put on an aftermarket wheel that doesn't belong there.

Any other problems I might have? Pics of similar setups would be great.

BTW, I'm gonna put on billies 5100 @ 1.75 with a TSB rear.

    Here are some specs:
    Tire: 265/70/17
    Rim Width Range: 7-8.5"
    Measuring Rim Width: 8"
    Section Width: 10.7"
    Tread Width: 8.2"

    Wheel: 17x8.5"
    Backspace: 4.51"
    Offset: -6mm

The tires may buble a bit ( not much ) but your fine . 285 tires would be perfect .

It'll look great, I haven't gotten around to posting pics yet but I have the same lift and just put the same tires on some Fuel Octane wheels (8.5" wide with 4.5" BS) this weekend. I've already gotten a ton of compliments and think they look great.

I'd love to see some pics soon when you get around to it. It would really help me pull the trigger because i've been wanting to do this for awhile now.

It's not going to make the tires look stretched. I'm running 265's on a 9" wide wheel and they look normal.

I hate to do this, but those Hankook's that KPT has have a max rim width range of 9.5", so he still has .5" of room left. BTW, they look real good.

The duratracs I'm looking at max out at 8.5", the same as the wheel I want. That's why I'm a little hesitant.

Who knows, yall could be right and I'm just psyching myself out.

You'll be fine as long as you don't plan on airing down at all for off road. They won't hold a bead very well.
