Will my tires ever be normal again???
My buddy just put 37" swampers on his ride. He gave me his 265/70R16 tires that he took off. I have an 06 Tacoma access cab 4x4. The problem is that he had a bad bearing in the front and his tires that I now have on my truck have a strange wear pattern in them. This is causing the tires to make a LOT of noise running down the road. I put the best looking ones on the front and the more worn ones on the back. I had a full ballance and alignment done when the tires went on my truck. My question is, will the tires eventually smooth out? Being that I have no suspension issues and I am running them on a fully aligned truck I was just wondering if the really harsh / loud noise will become quieter over time as the uneven wear , wears itself out. Also any idea how long that may take. He bought them brand new and they only had about 8000 miles on them. They are Federal and have a pretty aggressive tread pattern. Thanks a lot for any input.

Thanks for the response. When you said run different pressure in them what exactly did you mean? I am running the front at about 40 and the rear at about 38.5-39. What pressure do you recommend? The min is 35 and max is 65.

basically, what i mean is run the pressures to where you get a smooth as possible ride, as you dont want the pressure too high..........it will wear the tire out alot quicker that way.

gotcha, but do you think that I should run like 50-60psi in the back. Maybe that will make them wear quicker and that will get rid of the bad wear pattern that they have now.

i wouldnt suggest that you run them that high.........just remember, if you do run them that high in the rear, they will wear out in the middle and they will start cupping real bad, since there is no weight back there, having that much pressure in them will cause the rear end to bounce alot more, and that will lead to them being worn worse than they are now. i would run comfortable pressure, and haul something kinda heavy in the bed to help even them out.

In my experience, tires dont get better. Run them at the propper pressure, and rotate them when needed. You cant "make" them wear back to a normal state once they have been worn down. If they are faulty, they need to be replaced.

Chris4x4 is correct, once bad, always bad, for the amount of money invested into your truck don't sell yourself short and wreck the truck or wear other parts out because you got some "free" tires, there not free, you'll pay something.

That depends on how bad the wear is. I agree that they may never get right but it dosent mean that they will go out or give trouble. I don't believe they will ever get quite though.chris4x4 concrete jedi Haven't I seen you guys on other tire post?

They are Federal M/Ts 265/75R16. From what everyone is saying here, I'm just going to have to replace them with new ones. I've looked at all the threads and looks like people really like the BFG Revos. Any thoughts?
