BFG A/T good in snow?

are bfg a/t good snowtires? i have a set, but contemplating on whether or not to get actual snowtires.

I believe they are snow rated. Probably also depends on the depth of the snow too.

 

A buddy of mine in canada refuses to run any other tire on his jeeps.

They're also snow rated. I'd say they're a safe bet.

 

They grip really well in snow

 

i had them towards the top of my list of tires i want to get next, till i realized they don't sell for less than $200 each anywhere for 265/70r16.

 

You can buy them all day long for less than that. I paid about $180 a piece for mine and they are 285/75/16's

I think they are only okay. I had them on my 4Runner, and they were decent in the snow at best, and sucked ass if it was hard packed or icy. I got the silent armours right afterwards, and they were way better. I now have REVO's, and they are also pretty good. My buddy bought the Duratrac's when they came out, and put them on his Dodge right before a major snow storm, and they were amazing...almost never had to use 4x4. I do think the BFG A/T's are a cool looking tire, and have a nice highway ride/ last long, but I think you can do better...

 

They're awesome in snow. I've had them on my last truck for 10 years. I live in the mountains of UT with 500+" of snow a year. Unplowed snow, packed down roads, whatever, never had a problem.

I think they handle really well in the snow and I have had no trouble running them in the snow.

 

+1 for great snow tires, live in Colorado up in the hills. For the price probably the best tire all around, had them on every truck I've owned.

most people that i know around here run them and they wont use anything else. if i could afford another set i would swap out my toyos for the winter

 

I used a set years back on a pathfinder and to me, they felt unstable in the snow. IMO They were ok and will get the job done but after using actual snow tires, there's nothing like them for traction in the snow and ice. Duratracs should be very good in the snow due to the /\/\/\/\ sipe patern. I can't wait to see if they'll grip as good as the Blizzak WS-60 I run on my AWD galant.

 

I never use snow tires, and probably never will. Not worth the time, or money in my opinion...

There is a slight difference in the BFGs. Some have the snowflake symbol and are rated for extreme snow and some aren't. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is besides 1/32" of tread depth and possibly a different rubber compound. Might have more siping or something.

I got the shaft from the tire shop and they gave me the ones not rated for the snow. I'll see how they handle Utah snow this winter I guess.

Ive always ran them, never had a problem....great in snow.....This year I switched to the Grabber AT2 only because of price.

 

I agree. They don't clear snow out of the tread well at all. Hopefully my revo 2s will work better. They are already 10 times better in the rain so my hopes are high.
