Should I buy in the local store or TrieRack?

Thinking about to get the "16x8 KMC XD Series Hoss Black Painted" this week.
The local Kal Tires quoted me $1050 CAD included installation and the price on Tire Rack is $803 CAD Included shiping cost.

Which way should I do it? I think I can get those installed less than $250 dollars in the local tires shop then I can probably save 150 bucks if i get the wheels online.

Need suggestions to make the decision.... I am in Saskatchewan Canada.

 

If the prices are similar, it is desirable to buy them from the local store. Tire shops hate mounting wheels/tires that were bought online if they sell them as well. Also should problems arise, it's much easier to deal with them if you bought them from a local store.

but if it's a really big price difference, whatever.

 

Give the local shop a chance to match the online price. Just tell them what tire rack is selling them for and ask them to match the shipped price + install.

 

I asked Kal tires, and they said they cant do any deal on their wheels.

What are other shops that carry the truck rims?

 

Buy them online. Its ridiculous that a tire shop wont match an online price.

But make sure you have a place to mount them at a decent price. Some shops charge twice the cost to balance a tire or more just to curb people from purchasing them elsewhere.

 

Do you have fountain tire in sask? try there if you do

I dont think I'd go as far as to say that its "ridiculous".. It may be inconvenient, but not necessarily ridiculous. Online retailers, especially one as large as TireRack, can give much better pricing because they are able to buy in larger quantities, and have way less over head.

I'd say support your local business if they seem like a reputable shop that will appreciate the business, but if they seem like dicks then fuck-em and just order them online.

 

Research, research and research. Online is always cheaper for just about everything.

 

I don't understand why you wouldn't just go with the cheapest option. I bought some tires for my wife's car from tirerack and they're great, the shipping was fast, and like you it saved me a couple hundred bucks. You could always put the savings back into your truck!

 

Try KX wheels out of Burnaby...they have great prices. I also tried Kal Tire, and they have good prices on some wheels they have in stock, but when I asked for a -12 offset they magically were $60 more because they were a "special order". Us Canadians really take it in the ass for wheel/ tire prices I tell ya...
