i think to some degree you have to subgroup all terrains.
Heavier/ More Aggressive like the KOs, duratracs, discoverer sst, etc. Lighter/ Less Aggressive like the hankooks, revos, nittos, etc

the biggest decision is what you want out of em. you want em light for mpgs? aggressive and don't care about weight? mostly highway driving? lots of sand or rain or snow?

lookin at all the choices i don't think you can go wrong with whatever you get. these are all great tires. i doubt anybody on here has ever been able to drive on all the choices. it comes down to what everybody has had and whether they like em. hopefully you like what you pick out.
so what shoes do you want to see on your taco???

i'm gettin hankooks. great reviews and great tire overall, not heavy, not overpriced. i do alot of highway and need a light tire. but i love the more aggressive looking tires just don't need it though.

I currently have the falken high country in 285/70 17 and they have been a great tire! Ride extremely quiet and wear has exceeded all expectations

I've been extremely happy with my BFG A/Ts. They require a little caution on the skinny pedal while turning in the rain, but they preform so much better than the stock tires.

The Tacoma I purchased came with some cheap tires, and as soon as they burn off, I am going with Toyo Open Country A/T. I had them on my last truck, and they lasted forever (60,000+). There was no road noise, and they really handled like a dream on any surface. The Hankooks are tempting, and I even thought about a less agressive Michelin option, but Toyos are my top choice right now.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs for sure. I have them on my truck and they are the best tires Ive used. They are an all around good tire and never had problems with them on my taco thus far.

Again...Hankooks A/Ts. Can't beat em man and they have a 50k Tread warranty
They may not look as cool as others but they function just as well IMO.
