Anyone running BFG AT 265/70/17 load range "E"

Are any of you guys running these tires? I have a 2009 DC SB w/ 6 speed and I am considering these tires. I believe the load "E" are 10 ply w/ thicker side walls. I am worried that the heavier tire will kill my mileage?

As well with the 1" bigger tires I am curious if my rpm's will drop noticeably?

I'm not running that tire but can tell you that it is heavy, you shouldn't notice almost any difference in rpms. This tire is 31.6" tall. I am running the Same type but 285/70/17 32.7" tall they call it a 33 really measures on truck 32.4, any way I haven't noticed a difference in my rpms.

 

I have BFG A/T265/70/17 "C" w/2.5" lift. I have not experienced any drastic change in MPG. Maybe 1 to 1.5. IMO there is no need for a load range "E" on our trucks. The carrying capacity of the truck is not enough for an "E" and the additional plys do not give you enough puncture resistence to worry about. You will also notice a considerable reduction is ride quality and will feel every pebble in the road. I am very pleased with my "C" range.

Thanks for the info SongDog. I've had good look with the BFG's in the past (over 70,000 miles on my Dodge and still going) but was worried about the added weight when compared to the stock Dunlops.

on the same page here......can i run 285/70/r17 bfg tko's with a 2.5" lift with out any rubbing???

 

im pretty sure that with the 285', and not having a full 3 inch lift, there will be some rubbing. im not 100% sure, but thats what im thinking. hopefully, someone will answer for sure shortly.

 

You will encounter some rubbing...a little trimming on the mud flaps is all I experienced with mine...

 

what if i just take the mud flaps out in the front.........is there anything else taht would rub

 

I have the full 3" lift and those same tires and I had some rubbing. They won't fit without some trimming. IMHO.

 

Also depends on the wheels....what are you going to use?

 

i got some 17x8 rims...............what did you trim??? (sorry new to this, haven't got the tires on the rims yet decide which size to go with)

would you rather put bfg tko's or pro comp a/t...........any inputs please if there are other tires in the same price range tha's just as good

 

This is in the front you can see the zip tie I put to keep the plastic held back.

This is the big black plastic knob, or was.

This is near the pass. door, very little cut here.

As for the tires I have only had these, so I have no advise for you.
