Tire recommendations (on a budget)

Hello all, I'm relatively new to the world of Tacoma's (had an awesome 4Runner back in the day, but bought my '03 Tacoma only a few months ago) very new to this site (registered about 10 minutes ago), and well, this is my first thread....

While I love my truck, I'm definitely not thrilled with the Dunlop's that came stock on it and am now ready to upgrade. The Dunlop's have nearly 58K on them and are looking a bit weak in the knees anyways, so, I figured now's the time to get those AT's on. The question is, which one's? I know which specs will fit, but I was was wondering what the best fit would be? At this point, I'm looking seriously at just some standard BFG AT's, as they look real good and I can catch a full set for under $700. If that's basically my budget, would that be the best way to go?

 

You didn't specify what size you are looking for but most people on here are running BFG All terrains, Goodyear Duratracs, Nitto Terra Grapplers, or Hankook Dynopro ATM RF10s. All good tires. Depends on how much you want to spend. Hankooks are the cheapest, then Nitto, then BFG and GY.

 

A lot might depend on how you plan on using your truck and where you want to go with it.

That being said the BFG AT's are a very good all round tire.

I've got Hankook Dynopro ATM RF10s, so far a great tire and very affordable.

 

Thanks - yea, I use my truck for a mix of city driving and light off-roading (mostly to get to fishing holes and campsites). I am pretty much sold on the BFGs and am going with the 31's. About to go get 'em right now!

 

Save some money and get the Hankook Dynapro ATM's. Both are good tires but the extra weight of the BFG's and the extra cost pushed me away from them. I have the Hankooks on my 2010 and had the BFG's on my '99. Both are excellent tires on and off road.
