    Is there a reason for the green valve stem caps? Mine came with lime green caps. Was going to buy some new caps for it, but didn't know if they were supposed to serve some kind of purpose, maybe with the TPMS? Looks like a normal cap to me. Do others have this?

    Its not going to hurt anything to change them, its just so noone will add air instead of nitrogen.

    Yes, leave them on. You ever leave the truck anywhere for service and some kid thinks he's doing you a favor by topping off the tires, the green caps will tell him not to use air.

    ya nitrogen in the tires. But the normal air is mostly nitrogen so there really isnt much benefit to it from what ive heard.

    ummm yeah
    stock valve caps almost ruined a tire of mine last week......i aired up and did not notice that they had shrader valve alignment guides on the inside.....i was one minute from trashing a tire.....i love TPMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Regular air (which is roughly 70% nitrogen IIRC) expands and contracts more than pure nitrogen. I have an 04 4Runner with regular air and the tire pressure light thingy comes on every winter. My 10' Tacoma came with nitrogen filled tires and has yet have the light come on. Other than that, its all the same, meaning there are no other advantages.

    Dealer told me that you can add regular air if need be. But that I can always have the tired refilled with nitrogen free of charged for the life of the vehicle. Too bad that dealership is about 70 miles away:rolleyes:

    One thing people fail to think about when having "Pure Nitrogen" put in their tires, is, Unless the tire is seated on the rim submersed in a pure nitrogen environment, then there is still AIR in the tire! :eek: The propper way to fill the tire with nitrogen, is to repetedly fill and purge. Even then, there is STILL gonna be "regular air" in the tire. Being as Nitrogen is less likely to migrate thru the rubber than O2, one can speculate if you have your tires on your vehicle long enough, as the O2 migrates out, its leaving behind Nitrogen....So....After a period of time, Your tires will be filled with 100% nitrogen.......
