From my knowlegde..the only difference would be the side wall thickness. For a tacoma the E-range tire would ride rougher than the D..but for his F-250 it should suit it well..

On a side note i have read alot of reviews with those who have the heavy duty trucks and they do not like the feel of these tires when towing a very heavy load.

Very true statement. But other than (jacking this guys thread) what's the downside to running an overrated tire/sidewall? Not trying to asshat, but are we talking noise, rough ride..., or something more?

Well its all based on what you used your tacoma for. I know "many" off-roaders prefer a E-load range tire for the stronger side wall to prevent punctures from rocks and what not...But hey thats just hilarious..:)

so do you think these would be suitable for "pops" needs in the E rated version, or would they wear out just like the Kumhos?

I would tell him to go back with the firestones. If he got 60k out of them, then why change.

I was out wheeling with Drukensloth and he had these. I started asking some questions and he loves them too. He worked at Discount for a spell and the manager pointed him to them as a great tire.

I'm about to buy those same tires but I can't decide on 265's or 285's. How is you acceleration and mileage with the 285's? Seems like it would cause your truck to downshift into 4th (passing gear) at highway speeds??

I have the 265's on my '00 and honestly I love em. They're great off road with the aggressive tread and thick knobs they grab anything you can throw at them. They wear amazingly even all around I've run them almost 10k without really NEEDING to rotate but I will here soon enough cuz you're supposed to. I'd recommend :D

UPDATE: Well, these tires performed well, but the tread life wasn't as great as I would want it to be. We've already replaced these tires on our F-250 after a year and a half and about 30k miles. The rear tires were becoming completely bald, and quick, but I'll blame that on the heavy towing we do. We did rotate them a few times, by the way.

Great performing tire, but the tread life is just not good. At least for us it wasn't, but the price is right.

We're now trying the slightly re-designed Toyo Open Country AT. So far performing just as well, if not better and with good tread wear. Price is steeper, though.
