I currently have a 2.5 inch lift in the front and want to put 285/70R17 Good year duratrac tires on. The wheels are 17x9 with a -12 offset. The dudes at the shop are telling me I need to cut the cab mount back and weld in a plate to fit this size, but I am positive I have seen it done without. whats the consensus???

Probably going to have to trim the flaps, and possibly some other stuff to make it work. I dont know about welding anything though. Plenty of posts here about this same topic, most end up trimming. 4.5bs and -12 os usually are the recommended specs if I remember.

Wheel specs are good, but the shop is right, a lot of people end up chopping their cab mount to fit that size without rubbing.

Thanks for the info, as it turned out the cab mounts needed to be cut. Off-Road-Warehouse San Diego did the job and it turned out great. The 285's fit perfect after that. I still need to do some minor tweaking on the wheel well liner. Here's some pix.
