Are Toyota and Chevy 6 lug trucks both 6 x 5.5 or are they different? I found some rims on Craigslist and just wondering if they will fit.

I also have found some chevy rims for a good deal, but the back spacing is 5in vs the 4.5in that everyone seems to run. Will these fit with this backspacing? I cant remember if more back spacing makes them stick out or stick in. Thanks.

They won't fit, plus if you want to put 285's on the truck you at least need 4.5'' of backspace. chevy wheels will not work on our trucks.

I always here people say that Toyota 6 lug wheels fit on Chevy vehicles, but nobody ever mentions the lug nut issue!

For example, a Chevy Silverado uses 14 x 1.5 lug nuts. A Toyota Tacoma uses 12 x 1.5 lug nuts. (the threads don't match)

If you use a the Chevy lug nuts on the Toyota wheels, there is too much free play inside of the wheel, because the Toyota lug nuts are 18mm (outside diameter) and the Chevy lug nuts (ones made for mag wheels) are smaller. The lug nuts won't center properly, and the wheel won't be centered.

I can think of 3 possible options:

    1. Leave the wheels uncentered and with room for the wheel to wobble around if the lug nuts ever become loose.

    2. Remount new lug studs (12 x 1.5) on the Chevy hubs so they will accept the Toyota lug nuts.

    3. Try to find 14 x 1.5 lug nuts to fit the Chevy wheel studs that also have a 18mm outside diameter. (near impossible, I have looked "everywhere" for them!)

What are people doing to resolve this?

Any answers, please email me. romansten9@yahoo.com

    thanks

Otrattw switches, black vinyl armrest mod, clazzio leather seat covers with heaters, flowmaster dual exhaust, hornblasters train horns,
You have to get Toyota lugs. Chevy and Toyota same lug pattern, but you have to get the correct lugs.

    Holy thread revival!

Chevys and Toyotas have the exact same bolt partner, but Chevys have a smaller hub bore (78 mm vs 106 mm), so OEM Chevy wheels will not fit our trucks.

^The 2015+ Colorados changed the lug pattern to 6x100.

Aftermarket wheel availability is pretty poor for that truck, except for a few donk sizes meant for the Caddy SRX.

^I think if the lug pattern had greater compatibility, he would not be selling them for $350. ;)

Thread revival. What about an aftermarket rim for a chevy? Will those work with a yota?

Wow this is interesting i had chevy rally rims on my 93 toyota pickup for a while. But those were off a 78 chevy pickup i had but the toyota rims didnt fit the chevy because of the center bore. Wpuld have to dig through my old photo apbums to find a picture of it but looked cool.

Toyota aluminum rims with the 18mm shank width on the mounting holes will fit Chev/GM 14mmx1.5 studs if you get the Excalibur or EZaccessory
98-0002-09 lugnuts from Amazon or eBay vendors. There are also wheel hub centric rings to convert from 106mm to GM 78.1mm hub size.
This is what I did to fit 1998 4Runner aluminum rims to 1989 Cheyenne 4x4 pickup.

So that being said, some Tacoma wheel spacers should fit a Chevy hub right?

6x5.5 is 6x5.5, same - same. Just make sure the center bore is large enough to clear the Toyota hubs, some GM wheels have a smaller center bore due to the smaller hub size on the GM's.
