Powder coat or buy new rims?

Should I powder coat my stock 16's or just buy bigger newer black rims. Powder coating is cheaper of course, but will it hold up?

Powder coating will definitely hold up, if that's your only concern. It is baked on, much higher quality than painting.

Well it all depends on what you want to spend. I would say new rims because any aftermarket rim you choose is going to be cooler than the OEM one. But powder coating will hold up for ever. I have powder coated plenty of things and have had no problems.

Powder coating is about $80 - $100 a wheel, and it will definitely hold up to everything, but extreme curb rash or rock scratches.

I powdercoated my aftermarket wheels. Had to go back and get it re-done as soon as I tried putting the tire back on. They didn't do something right and it started chipping off. They re did them for free and they've been ok so far.

if powdercoating each wheel is about 100 bucks then isnt it worth just buying new rims? granted it wont be 400 bucks but you can get a good set of 16s for around 4-600 bucks, i got my pro comps for around 400

I powder coated mine and they looked great I just soon got really tired of not having custom wheels that were wider and had a much better look so I could have save 200 bucks

Thanks for the info everyone. I think I might try the powder coating. Tryin to keep the costs down for now. I was thinking of maybe the black chrome option also. Does anybody have any experience with that? Whichever I do, I'm wanting the chrome on my grill and bumper/badges to be the same.

Someone else was looking for a "darker chrome" in another thread. I found this...don't know if this is the look you're wantin to go for or not. Don't even know if it would work with a wheel that wasn't "chrome" before.
