Cool besns. Thanks for the input guys. It's probably gonna be a year or two before I get new tires, unless I can manage to destroy these dunflops sooner. Hopefully by then, there will be a few more options in that size. I love the KM2s, but I would probably be better off with a aggressive AT. Has to be 10 ply as well

Any mpg milkers with 4.0 auto out there running 255s on gentle daily commute?
Just curious what you're getting economy-wise.
I threw on some E Nitto TerraGraps, stock steelies 265/75/16 this fall and was cringeing to see my numbers plunge into the shitter, which they were throughout winter. Now with more ambient temps last 4 tanks have been 21.125, 21.5, 20 and 20.1 mpgs.

Have a set of 255/85 toyo m55 waiting to come on.. just waiting on my ome 3" and ap expo leafs.

Went with m55 over the km2 solely due to longevity of the tire. They are both the same weight, ply, load rating. I mainly do highways and forestry roads so a mt would not have done it for me. Went over to my buddies shop and checked them out today and WOW, they are burly, and thick...thick like semi tires.

Will post pics next week when it is all installed

Yea for sure. I have been creeping for a while, and have seen the lack of info on the m55. I think people wont run them due to their tread pattern. Everyone wants the MT look. A really good friend of mine ran m55's on his 60 and they were amazing. The tires had been on his truck for 4 years since he restored it, not sure how many kms. He said he would never buy anything other than the m55. The 60 is heavier than our trucks, but I currently have a custom bed rack and an ARB RTT... which weighs in around 150+ rack, will be adding a cruisin offroad rear bumper and sliders when I recover from the lift costs.

Another friend runs m55's on his welding rig which he takes up and down to fort mac every weekend. He is an avid wheeler, and while he says the km2 would obviously out dig the m55. The m55 last wayyyy longer and is mannered a lot better on the road.

To be honest as soon as I picked one of these up and almost re opened my hernia. I had second thoughts. But with a good hour in front of the computer... Anything near this size will be the same weight, despite the ply rating ( a 285/75r16 is 2 lbs heavier than the 255/85 as a comparison ). The whole commercial tire mentality is a hard one to wrap your head around. But with weight considered I think the m55 is a no brainer. It is m+s rated, although im not sure how it would react with a lighter rig on top of them. They are after all designed for my dodge 5500 service truck...haha

Will keep you posted as soon as I get them mounted!!

Looks like roughly $75 more per tire vs KM2's

Isn't that because they pretty much are semi tires?

This. They were really expensive when I was looking.

The m55 and the km2 are both ten ply. They are both made for 3/4 ton and up trucks in the 255.

There is only a pound difference between the two tires. Price for me was cheap, my friend owns a tire shop.

EDIT: Got the tires mounted today. Ended up buying a set of scs f-5 wheels to try to keep the weight down a bit. Looks awesome.

I have a '13 dclb, trd sport and am wondering if the 255/80 r17 will fit without a lift.

Also if anyone has this setup I'd really like to see pics of it. Thanks guys

nice! very curious as to how these tires behave on your truck. i stayed away due to the apparent hard rubber compound. while this might be great for ppl living in the southern states, for me living with snowy slushy icy winters it didn't seem best, but i do like the look of the tire with the aggressive all terrain tread pattern.

I will post up more photos next weekend when I get everything installed.

As for the rubber being stiff, I agree with them not being great for winter. But I will most likely get a set of yoko I/T and mount them to my stock wheels for winter driving.
