lol at nittos being thought of as bro earlier in this thread .... my favorite is seeing people driving around here on the DUNE GRAPPLERS .... the closest dunes to here are 5 hours!!! I dont care where you go, Pismo, Sand mtn, nv, or Samoa ... its 5 hours.

Id consider the dura trac's ... if youre a sams club member they often have good deals on em ..... my truck came with decent bfg long fails though, so imma wait till those go and get some new rims at the same time .. and im a 2wd with no locker / lift plans and this truck seems to do worse in the muck than my 99 mazda did ... but that could be lighter weight and 4.10s vs 3.73s

You go offroading every weekened? 15% is a lot of offroad time...

But about the wandering, it could be due to poor alignment.

Good point... I do not go offroading every weekend. I'd honestly say one weekend a month to get to fishing spots, trailheads, and camp sites.

Now that I think about it, I'm trying to get the best of both worlds: an aggressive style tread yet on a tire that affects my on-road ride as little as possible. Don't be afraid to tell me it ain't possible.;)

I just can't support anything that says "Goodyear" along the sidewall.

They just can't make tires. They can't make a quality sidewall, they can't make a round tire.

Do you how many times I get handeded "Check __ tire for leak"? Do you know how many of those tires turn out to be Goodyear tires with blown sidewalls?

The past 2 weeks with GY tires:

-Shop put GYs on a Saab, back a year later with bulges in the sidewalls.
-4 GY tires all with holes blown in the sidewall. 4 diff. cars, 4 seperate cases.
-1 axle of frustration getting 2 GYs to balance out...cause they were junk.
-Girl had a LOF done in Cleveland, they roatated her tires and now the car shakes and pulls badly. LF tire is junk. Goodyear tires. Re-rotated and balanced and she was good.
-A member of the region I'm in had a GY trailer tire lose all the tread off it.

I am surprised that more issues with the GYDCs haven't been brought up. I'm sure they are out there but I don't expect them to show up around here with the love they get. I have read about the wander issues and balancing issues.

I run Destination A/Ts. Love em'. Depends on what you're looking for.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I love my tires they have out preformed over and over again on road and off. The snow performance is awesome but that might have something to do with the width of my 12.5", I don't have any wondering at HW speeds. Ive put just about 10,000 miles on mine with about 90% tread left but I'm not 18 so that might have something to do with it.

I love my Duratrac's they have performed well in every terrain I have put them through. They do wander on the freeway though; when I hit a diagonal pavement groove they yank the truck in that direction. Kinda scary. Maybe I need UCA's!

Buy the DT's, they're epic. I've run Goodyear's on all my vehicles when I needed to buy with 0 problems. Every time i've egg'd a sidewall or had prob's with a tire it was due to improper balance, pressure or nailing a curb and was typically a diff brand.

I friggin' LOVE my Dura's - MOST STABLE TIRE I'VE EVER RIDDEN in the: Rain, Snow, Sleet, Dry highway (sure, a lil floaty but not bad), and did great in the mud until it dried out and became VERY heavy late in the night and caked in to the treads, others with MT's got stuck too. This is Minnesota seasons so YMMV. Just keep 'em inflated proper and balanced and you'll be fine.

They rock. Buy them and don't look back. Take a minute and read all the threads about the terrible BFG performance in anything wet. Was enough to sway me. I can bomb 4-5 inch deep puddles at 45+mph with NO loss of control, and I could hardly tell it was snowing late this winter (after I swapped to the DT's) Noise above 40mph+ the hum is so darn quite... just a verrrrry light hum. Even the lowest volume on the radio or any aftermarket muffler will over power it.

RE: Quaker, while i of course respect that you my have had sidewall issues: Every time i've had a slow leek that wasn't a nail/intrusion it was because the fill nipple wasn't seated correctly or they said they replaced it when i got the new tires but they really didn't (Pro-Tip: mark your fill nip's prior to new tires... there are many reports of chains nor swapping 'em even though you paid just to save time&money. and cheap nips' failing after tire swap and cheap nips failing prematurely.)

I've had Duratrac's for about 5000 miles now. On road and off road traction is very good, it's unbelievable how much better off road they perform compared to the stock Rugged Trails. I've not noticed any negative impact MPG, I'm averaging 19 MPG currently. The negatives are they have a noticeable hum at about any speed and wander at speeds above 60 MPH. However, I'd probably get them again if I can get 40-50k miles out of them. The other tire I would consider for an aggressive A/T would be the Cooper S/T. I've had 4 sets of their car tires and have been extremely happy with them and would like to try their truck tire some day.

I'd like to hear from somone that has gone from the BFG A/T's to the Duratrac's, for comparison. It would be that same truck, same driver, same daily life and driving adventures.
