New wheels-no clearcoat on them. WTF?

    I just purchased a new set of wheels. I was reading the disclaimer that came with them and it said the wheels did not come with any clear coating. I thought this was odd.
    How important is clear coating anyway?
    Did I buy a cheap set of wheels or do they not come with any clear coating anymore?
    Should I send them back and get a different kind that has clear coating?
